Brilliant CDs covering big band's 1960s arranging and playing of contemporary as well some standards and new pieces.
Unfortunately Maynard Ferguson is long gone but his music is quite unique. These two CDs cover 3 records which were released in the 1960s. As a trumpet player he was unmatched in being able to hit high note reliably in a big band setting. I know the later 2 records well as I still have them but I never had the MF1 album so this was a way of getting it (albeit expensive). The sound quality is good, The liner notes are excellent and filled in the gaps in my knowledge about how Maynard ended up in UK to record these three albums.
