Good game, could be better

Overall, this is a good, but not great baseball game. I do however, think it is the best baseball game on the market right now. The graphics could be better (God, I miss EA's graphics), but the representation of baseball as a whole is done very well. Franchise mode lets you handle all operations of the team, from deciding which free agent to sign, to setting prices for concessions such as t-shirts and posters. I prefer to act as an owner/gm in this mode, and not get bogged down playing all of the 162 games. Online, the game is great, giving you real time roster updates that you can download and use on your PS3. There is a system that will match you against a player of your skill level, and there is an ability to rate your opponent in different catagories. Your progress is tracked as well. Where this game really shines is in Road to the Show mode. You are faced with choices actual major leaguers have to make. After trying out for the team of your choice, you either make the team or are sent to the minors. Being sent to the minors isn't a bad thing; you get to increase your skills as your performance increases, and may be called up to the majors. Now things start to get interesting. Do you sign a long term deal with a powerhouse, or go for a short term deal with a cellar-dweller, and hope to cash in on the free agent market? I have created both a pitcher and a position player. For a position player you usually have 4 or 5 at bats, and 1 or 2 defensive plays to make. A game in this mode typically lasts 6-10 minutes. It does tend to get kind of boring if you hit a single with nobody out, as you have to stay on base as the other members of your team take their at bats. If you're unlucky enough to be on base during a 8 or 10 pitch at bat, this can take some time. As a pitcher, you play every pitch until you either finish the game, or are pulled from the game. The game also features motion control where you can jump or dive for a ball by tilting the controller. All in all, if you're a fan of baseball, this is hands down the game to get.Read full review...

Lacking in some ways, but a good game of baseball

I bought this game for my PS3 because i love baseball. Some of the good things about this game is the new mode called career. You play as a player only you created. Its awesome. You can roll through a season very quickly if you use fast mode. But if you like playing against friends or a dynasty, than this game delivers well, but you will grow frustrated at a couple of the games flaws. There will be a point in almost every inning where you will be yelling "throw the ball already!". When a ground ball is hit, your player will automatically double clutch and then throw, making the play really close, or the runners safe. When your in the outfield, and you need to gun the ball home to get the runner out, you will find your outfielder just nonchalantly tosses the ball in. These flaws are easy to get over if you love baseball games like i do. If you have a PS3 and you like baseball, get the game, you wont be disappointed.Read full review...

Major League Blunder 07: What Show?

MLB 07 for the PS3 tries to carry over everything from the PS2 version of the game, such as the Pitch Command System, Road to the Show and umpire personalities. It also tries to add to the mix with some brand new animations, better textures for stadium and some new Sixaxis controls. However, there's a few significant problems that wind up arising with the title that keep it from being great: some gameplay mechanics that were better in the PS2 version of the game didn't make it over to the PS3, while others don't work as well as you'd expect them to. Plus, for a first party baseball title that's coming out as late as MLB 07 is this year, you'd expect, perhaps even demand something that stretched the capabilities of the system. As it currently stands, The Show feels like a ported PS2 game - a good PS2 game, but one nonetheless.

Players will still be able to use the catcher's calls as well as the confidence their hurler feels in a particular pitch to improve their success on the mound. However, they'll need to take into account the Umpire Personalities, which will call the strike zone tighter, looser or right down the middle

Batting is still solid, thanks to the included Swing Analysis tool that gives you an indication as to the timing and location of your swing as well as the location of the ball. On the other hand, queuing up bases with the new baserunning targeting system can still be a bit sticky. Fortunately, the new meter that was implemented for fielding to determine the strength of a throw has been tightened up significantly

The BEST MLB game on PS3

if you have played the PS2 version of this game, even only for one inning, you will find this game to be easy. This game also has better graphics than what
all of us expected, in our opinion the graphics beat out MLB 2K7. Here are pros and cons:
Pros:
Easy Learning Curve
Keeps the old MLB the show series pitching/batting/fielding style.
Probably the most authentic gameplay/graphics/A.I. since MVP 05.
Great Soundtrack/Download of MLB Ticker
Great Graphics(Better than 2k7)
Great Gameplay/Camera Angles
Cons:
Slow Loading Times
Commentators are better on 2k7.
The score:
9.2/10
Great Game, Better Graphics. This game was definitely worth the 2 month delay and for all baseball/PS3 fans get this. Game has 4 levels.

Awesome game

Overall this is a very fun game, as a pitcher you have very good command, also very good command as a hitter. I also own mlb 06 and 08,07 is much better graphics and control over the 06 also I like it much better than the 08 I would probably rate it excellent, but it can be very frustrating but that's why I rate it good if you like baseball you will love this game!!!Read full review...

Good title with room for improvement.

If you like baseball then you will enjoy the game. I am not a fan of MLB on TV but like to play the game on the PS3 with my kids. It is fun and addictive with many customizable features. Physics are very real and players do indeed look like their real life couterparts.

With that said, there is room for improvement in this game. I found the pitching meter to be difficult to use in my old age. My kids seem to embrace it but I had to switch to the classic pitching instead. The problem with this is that you can not control the strength of the throw unless you use the meter. I am hoping this will improve in the new version of the game.

All in all this is a good title that can be fun to play for the entire family.

MLB 07 The Show

This game is for the real baseball lover, It has a very good grasp on how MLB is Presented on T.V.
There are several game modes, the best being the road to the show. In the road to the show mode you make your own player and get to try and make any MLB team of your choice, but the catch is that you have to be able to put up really good number in spring training or you will be forced to sign a minor league contract. Don't worry it is inevitable because of your attributes are way to low to make the team right out of spring. Each game you play you are given points which go toward your players attributes to make you better(it is a long process). This is a big reason I love this game, it is realistic, no one is going to march into spring training and make a MLB team with little skills. The rosters are deep and mostly up to date. The MLB Stadiums are unbelievable, the detail that went into the field and stadiums is the best I have ever seen period.
If there is something that I don't care for about the game is that I have experienced some freeze ups with my system after a few hours of play, but I can't blame the game for that just the over priced machine.

Pretty good baseball game for the PS3 system

This game has Great graphics really for a '07 edition to PS3's sports bundles. The game play is a bit hard to get at first with improments, but after awhile of practice you will get the hang of this game. So if you like sports(baseball) try this game on for size, it goes for really good price on ebay.Read full review...

Great Baseball Game

Its a very fun game to play. I love how there is the season mode and career mode. The season mode is definantly very fun because you actually get to see what every person on your team is hitting. Career mode is the best mode by far however because you make one person and you are that one person forever. When you are on the free agents you can choose how long you want your contract and how much you get paid. However just because you want that does not mean that you get it. When your finally on a team you have to gain skill points to make your character better. When you have played for like a couple days you have the opportunity to join the major league. If you keep your avg up you can even stay there. When you get your character to be very good you can make him hit home runs a lot faster and be a better player. Overall I think that its a great game but I still don't like the fact that it does not have home run derbyRead full review...
