An early great for Platinum Games.

Hard to believe that this is a Wii exclusive, definitely rated M for a reason. Gameplay is really fun, most of the game is about combos, but not button mashing combos, combos like slam a tire on someone, then shove a sign through his head, then throw him into something to (finally) kill him and possibly others at the same time. There is a ton of variation with the environment, amount of moves available, and eventually weapons. Lots of swearing from the commentators and soundtrack, which is rap, not sure that it fits the game, but it's not annoying. Overall, if you like Platinum Games or waggling a Wii remote, you'll enjoy this.Read full review...

Short, Yet Very Satisfying

For about the first 10-15 hours you'll spend playing this game, Madworld is one of the most entertaining experiences on the Wii. There are few things more satisfying than using gestures to rip a man in half, or to impale someone in the head with a freakin' signpost. Keeping the mood light are the game's two "commentators" (one of whom voiced Futurama's Bender, while the other was a cast member on "Who's Line Is It Anyway), who provide absolutely hilarious - and filthy - feedback on what's happening on screen. The game is also amazing to look at. The art really emphasizes the blood, which will be splattered across the level by the time you're done. However, a bit after your first runthrough, the kills will begin to seem really repetitive, and you'll really notice how every bad guy has about three things to say (during my playtime, I must've heard "I'm gonna get you for that motherf*****r!!" screamed at me about ten or fifteen dozen times. It gets annoying fast). The game simply does not have a lot of replay value, with the slight exception of "Deathwatch Challenges", the completion of which unlocks nothing. Regardless, the game is absolutely worth the $10-15 you'll spend on ebay. There's a minor multiplayer component, but this is one of the few games thats fun for non-players to watch. Invite some friends over, relax, and have a bloody good time. Plus, feel good about supporting mature games on the Wii.

Oh, also. Keep this game far, far away from children. It may warp their minds. Permanently.

Madworld (Wii)

At first glance, this game has been a great deal of fun. Violence to the max and very intuitive controls. I have some concern the gameplay will grow old soon. I can see myself playing this game obsessively for a few weeks, then never touching it again. But who knows... it may evolve as I dig deeper into the story. I haven't seen many used versions of this title being sold, so that is promising.Read full review...

Ehh ... Yeah ... It's Got It's Uses

MadWorld is a cool (though not new) concept. You're in a televised death match with tons of foulmouthed thugs - which you've seen in a movie or five - with the nifty twist of being sponsored to kill them in creative ways. After playing it once through and attempting a second run, my opinion is as follows ...

I love the comic style black and white hard-edged graphic work where the only color besides is lots of splashy red blood.

Looks - Awesome.

Camera control is a little clunky compared to another "slash the masses" game I can think of (good ol' No More Heroes!) but the feel of it once I got used to it was a little more urgent than NMH, which is a good thing. Also, the gestures that I had to do in order to destroy enemies did not have to be as big as in NMH and were therefore easier on the wrists.

Controls - Less Carpal Tunnel = Good.

I enjoyed the commentators for about half the game. They made me grin. The problem with catch-phrases and commentators though is that, as with all games that feature them (NCAA Football comes to mind) they will inevitably get old after a while. Until they develop AI for video games though, this is just the norm and not the fault of the game itself. I guess Nintendo was pretty smart to silence so many of it's characters from the get-go. I do wish the music library was expanded a bit because that got repetitive even before the commentators did. Worse was the run-of-the-mill spawn. I'm all for a well-placed MF'er now and then, but it failed to impact after so many rounds.

Sound - Repetition in sound can make the game itself seem repetitive despite the well-conceived boss matches. No joy.

All in all, if you're buying your first rated M game for the Wii I'd go with No More Heroes or Afro Samurai. Both have the same comic book art feel minus the nifty black and white of MadWorld. The replay on them is no better than that of MadWorld but they do have more depth and far less annoying audio.

Taken minute by minute, this is good entertainment for $10.

Mad World-Nintendo graphics

This is a good game for people who want a mature game on the Wii which lacks in hat catagory. After playing this game and others on all the systems, I still remain a nintendo fan. I always thought the game cube had the weakest graphics but if you play games like eternal darkness, metriod prime, and others, I actually think the nintendo has the better graphics on all there systems. Look at Monster Hunter Tri for the Wii, graphics are amazing. Anyways, this game is sort of like Sin city the movie on in a game in a way withe black and white with colors added. For the price it's worth it.Read full review...

A Mad World after all...

As cliche as the the review title suggests, this video game is full of them. Don't pick this up if you want something really fresh, this game will get old quick, moves are repetitive and the camera control sucks. The game does involve some getting-use-to and the camera can be better responsive if you learn how to use the camera button. Single player campaign will be short lived and the replayability is not very tempting, since all you get are extra weapons; that are only used in certain levels and have limited use. Also no incentives on level gameplay(no hidden levels or different paths nor endings). The audio can be tweaked to your liking(you'll use this after a few hours of play). With this said, what this game does have; is a interesting storyline that can be predictable, but will have some unexpected turns in the plot. With over the top violence, drug & alcohol reference, frank dialogue and sexual overtones this is sure to please any mature Nintendo Wii owner. Although not a "must have"- a definite game that is unique to the Wii and a great addition to the obscure titles available to this system. Buy this if you have the extra cash, get it if you want some old school hack-n-slash. With some much potential, maybe Mad World 2(Madder World or Mad Mad World) will be better. Maybe...Read full review...

MadWorld

This game reminds me of something straight out of a Frank Miller graphic novel. Good that nintendo has some mature rated games for the grown ups. This game has it all a great beat em up with lots of bloody and creative ways to defeat your enemys. This game doesn't take itself too seriously though cause with the violence there is tons of laughs and commentary that will leave you wanting to beat this game multiple times.Read full review...

Bloody hell!

Now that's a really great game for the Wii.
Most people say that the Wii is for younger games, and most of the times, that's true.

But then came along some other type of games.
Sega (mostly known as the guys who brought us Sonic) bringing us a very creative, very gory game.

You are playing Jake, a don't-mess-up-with-me-although-I'm-with-the-good-side guy, in a TV tournament where you're gold is to kill as much as possible. killing them will rank Jake higher.

Up to this point, nothing really new.
The thing this game is excel in is the presentation. The game looks like you are playing in a black, white and red comic book. Everything is black and white except the blood which is, well red.

The sound is also getting you in the game with crazy and funny tv commentators and hip-hop tracks that get you into the game.

Gameplay is simple and fun! Really uses the Wii function and help the already wonderful game to become something you'll want to keep on playing.

The only problem I came up with is that it sometimes feel a bit repetitive. My advice is not to try to finish this game at once.

So for me it gets 8.5/10.

Have fun (You will).

BRUH. YUS.

A great hack'n'slash!!!!
Story is familiar, as is the character, but you don't play this game for story or character development, you play this game to hack up enemies in black and white, with red.
The controls are some of the best controls I have ever used to this day, they're fluid, dynamic, and a well thought out use of the nintendo wii controllers! A BLAST to play from start to finish!!!
Combo kills, hearty narration/sportscasting bring it to life, oh... and a retractable gauntlet mounted chainsaw never hurts.. a little.
ONE con.... the dated graphics don't look so sharp on a high definition tv. But on that note. Doesn't matter. Honestly. Get it, and have fun trying to beat you own scores, then challenge your friends. Ps. Also a great way to get your arms moving.

Put the kids to bed, ADULT gaming for the Wii is here!!

Think of it... the concept for this game started with one idea. "How bout black and white... everything, just black and white. The only color in the game is BLOOD". And yes, there are buckets to be spilled in every crazy manor you could (and never dared to) fathom.

MADWORLD is a sadistic bloodsport, featuring a protagonist that is a mix of HellBoy, Charlie Manson, and the chainsaw-armed Ash from Army of Darkness. Add constantly awesome boss battles, interactively lethal environments, a mind blowing soundtrack, and your just getting close to this experience.

My favorite part? Every curse word in the book is whimsically weaved into witty banter that makes the game- hilarious play-by-play narration done perfectly by Who's Line's Greg Proops and John DiMaggio (voice of Futurama's Bender).

If your kid brings it home, first, ground his butt... then play it when he's confined to his room.
