Immersive story, great character development, and just good overall fun!

I know this game is 2 years old. I've read great review about it, so I finally decided to give it a shot. What an amzing game! I wouldn't put it up there with the GTA series, but pretty damn near. Great voice over acting, great story line, and the movement and battle system feels pretty natural. Good gameplay with a great story to it. Story isn't very long like RPGs.

It's a good game to play with a great story to it. The problem is, after it has been solved, that's all there is to it. On a fair note, I've been known to solve games like this within a few short weeks (2 weeks to a month). Don't expect to get hours of gameplay that rivals a good RPG like Skyrim or a action game like Batman: Arkham City. Still, I'm glad I waited to buy this used.Read full review...

Excellent return of a franchise with great promise!

Mafia II is an excellent return of a franchise with great promise. Vito and his associates are memorable characters in a city bursting with subtle visual details and violent undertones. The story pulls no punches, neither glorifying nor demeaning the difficult lives its protagonists lead--just presenting them with brutal honesty and letting you reach your own conclusions. After the 15-or-so hours it might take you to gun through Vito's story, it's hard not to come away with the sense that there should have been more to do in this beautiful city. Yet while you might be disappointed with what Mafia II doesn't do, it's hard to be disappointed by what this excellent game does do: deliver fun shoot-outs and pockets of shocking brutality in a world you're delighted to be a part of.

Fantastic action set pieces
Shooting and hand-to-hand combat are both highly satisfying
Empire City is beautiful and stuffed with period detail
Brutal, involving story populated with interesting, well-acted characters.

The Bad
Not enough to do in the open world
Too much time spent on mundane tasks.

Fun game

A very great game! This mafia game based in america offers you the entire state of new york. The world is yours, rob a gun shop... or buy from it. Run from the cops... or pay your fine, it's up to you. The story line is good but not great, but all of the game play, and action make up for it.

Few bugs but nothing big, sometimes the cops cant get you because you're "hiding" on the roof of a car.

decent. better than the first...

some chapters were difficult because of glitches that still exsist mainly chapter 14 and the issues with staying signed into live while playing...but the game was fun...it was over fast and had an okay story to it...i kept wanting to beat it so that was a good thing the hook was nice. Love this game, one of my favorites! Wonderful price as well!

This product interested me because I had heard that it was similar to grand theft auto in a way, which I liked. I love the music in this game and the cars are so awesome! The time period really was interesting and I have always enjoyed like..the 40's and 50's gangster type things. I think if you like GTA, you'll most likely enjoy this. I think that being able to get pulled over for speeding is also a cute little addition to the game.Read full review...

Open world always fun

Played a little once I received the game I enjoyed it much! The story is good and the cars are fun to play with. I like these open world games!
