Love the Magellan Maestro!

I had a Magellan 3250 that was stolen our of my car, I saw a sale for another brand GPS and bought that for a replacement (TomTom). Hated it! After about a week I decided I needed to get my Maestro back.

The Magellan Maestro is VERY user friendly. I figured out all the basics right out of the box without reading the directions. It's menu is easy to navigate and you don't have to go through 5 different screens to get where you want to go like some GPS's.

It seems like all of the most used features are easily found in 1 or 2 screen touches and I LOVE that it asks you how you want your route everytime you enter a destination, fastest, shortest distance, etc. It reroutes super fast if you get off track and never had a problem finding a satelite signal unlike the TomTom which once took almost 10 minutes to find my location on a clear day.

Magellan Maestro 4250 the next step in evolution of GPS

I have loved my Magellan 750M unit that is the same unit as used by Hertz as their Neverlost but was unhappy when they stopped updates for their mapping software...Enter the Maestro 4250 as it is compact and easily upgraded thru my PC...Only time will tell if this is as durable unit as the bulletproof 750M as it is almost indestructable....The Maestro 4250 with its bluetooth capabilities makes it a valuable easy link to my cell phone for perfect handsfree operaion....The Travel alert system helps speed you past traffic jams and is worth the price to enroll....Also love that fact that as a AAA Member the Maestro 4250 can contact AAA if I ever breakdown, run out of gas, need a jump or a tow.....Read full review...

A great gps for the money!

This unit has for the most part everything you will want in a GPS and the AAA guide really helps. It even shows business phone numbers with the location! I was using a computer with gps and have found that The 4250 far surpasses it. The larger screen is a plus when driving. The icon menu makes it easy to navigate the controls of the unit. The only downside is that the voice command will sometimes think you are talking to it and start asking for a command (which is irritating). I have used several GPS units over the years and this is by far the best!Read full review...

Look no further if you're in the market for a GPS

I owned an older Magellan GPS which I updated the software twice. I decided it was time for a newer model rather than upgrade again and I shopped around and compared the features of the other GPS manufacturers on the market (Tom Tom & Garamin). I was impressed with the large screen display on this model and I especially like the voice recognition feature(especially useful while driving as you do not have to pull over to reprogram your route). The colors on the map screen are vivid and the redesign of the mounting bracket is an improvement over the earlier model. This unit can also be used out of the car if traveling by bike or foot - another new feature. I've used it for recent travel over the holidays and I found the unit to be accurate and reliable. It even re-routed me around traffic jams to help with timely arrival to my destination. Great job to the Magellan engineers!Read full review...

We LOVE this!!

I purchased a refurb. Magellan Maestro 4250 last year as for my Husband for Christmas after doing a LOT of research. We were going camping in the Redwoods for Thanksgiving, so I broke down and gave it to him a little early.

What a blessing this was for us - Road construction, closed roads, etc. made us take several different routes than we normally do.

This automatically recalculates where you need to go and the voice telling you the directions is pleasant and clear. The screen is large enough to see without distracting the driver. The screen also dims down for night driving so you aren't distracted by the bright lights.

We loaned this to my Son while he drove to Montana this past August. He too loved this and he is very picky about anything electronic!

VERY EASY TO USE, quite unlike the Garmin I purchased a few years ago for my Husband. Our Garmin has been used only once because it is so difficult and complex.

I'd like to buy another one - for my Son this time!

The product is pretty good. The only thing is that sometimes it has trouble turning on. I am going to send it back and hopefully get another one that turns on when i want it too... Other than that the product and its features are awesome and it is easy to useRead full review...

Magellan Maestro 4250...great GPS for your money

This is mt second Magellan GPS. I was very happy with my first Magellan GPS (but I accidentally run into it so I bought a new one. Magellan Maestro 4250 is very easy to use and also quick detour if you got lost or miss your turn. The one I don't like is the traffic information ( supposed to be free for 60 days, but for some reason it will not tell me about how is the traffic so I don't recommend to subscribe for it). The voice command is OK but you can't use it for everything (just gas station or coffee only). Well so far I love my Magellan and will recommend people to buy this brand. As far as buying it from Ebay, I have been buying in Ebay from a while now, I got pretty good deal (not always), but I will recommend people to use Ebay..it is helpful and convenient.Read full review...

Some what puzzling

Heard a lot of good things about Magellan GPS's from others, It seemes to be efficient, but the maps are not really up to date and the traffic information update as far as construction work goes is not too good. Other than that I think it is a good investment.
Not particullary fond of the way Magellan ( HIDES) states that if you buy a
unit off a auction site and a new map download is available within 30 days of purchase that it would be FREE. Seems to me that they are not fond of their units being sold on the internet. So if you find a better deal seems that you pay a price after all, and not get the updated map for free if purchased on an auction site.

In use

Magellan worked great except there were some roads (new in the last three years) that weren't on the map. The Magellan worked great, easy to use, easy to set up. Their is one thing I didn't care about the Magellan and that was when the radio was on some times the Magellan would take a command (voice actuate is one part of the this device)from the radio and I would have to reroute a voice command. This wasn't a problem. You'll love this GPS, it works great. Keep your eyes on the road and it will talk to you as it guides you.Read full review...

Magellan Maestro 4250 GPS

I own a Magellan Maestro a yr older than this one, and find it so efficient and exactly what is needed when behind the wheel, I purchased this one for a son with his own business.
Magellan is clear in audio commands to you, graphics, and directions, has choice of languages, gender, and alternate routes. Points of Interest, detours, all are absorbed into the gps's instructions to you. You can have the unit back up a notch to repeat an instruction with one press of button.
This Maestro 4250 is also voice activated! very handy when trying to navigate in traffic.
The Maestro's screen is also large and vivid, making your visuals easy and safe, also.
The unit can be moved quickly and painlessly from vehicle to vehicle if necessary, and new maps for foreign countries or even our own are readily available as downloads through Magellan's website.

I believe in Magellan Maestro all the way!
And back home, too!
