Very nice angle grinder, maybe the best
I cut both flat stock to 1" thick and bicycle tubing with my grinders. After burning out a B&D 2750 that I loved, (plus a couple of Harbor Freights that were rougher), this is a very nice grinder. It is super smooth, much better than my Metabo Hitachi HPT G12SQ2M, and I think it's because it has spiral gears instead of the straight cut gears. When I cut bicycle tubing to length, this is the grinder to use. I've just bought a Bosch GWS10-45PE that also has spiral gears, and while it isn't quite as vibration free, it is noticeably smaller diameter and easier to hold, which is much better for making precise cuts. Only time will tell if the Makita or the Bosch works out better for my work. However either one is better than the Metabo, B&D, and the Harbor Freight grinders. (I do have some Milwaukee tools I like too, but I thought their angle grinder was overpriced for what it offered.)Read full review...

The pink bunny grinder
Bought a Makita grinder 6 years ago, still going. I have bought 5 other different brands, 4 of them well known. You will notice that I did say, well known and not, top brands. My old Makita has out lasted them all. Still going strong. I'm thinking little pink bunny here. I like to keep 2 grinders at all times. One for grinding, one with sanding dics. Also I really like this case. Unlike the plastic ones that you can't figure out how the tool fits back into it. You tend to believe that they made that case for a different tool. Just by looking, you might think that this case is very well made. I have one and I can tell you, It is. I wish I could buy one for my old Makita.Read full review...

Hard to beat!
This is a nice grinder from makita. The weight and design are good and the noise level is much better than expected. I like the paddle switch instead of a sliding switch also. My only complaint is the lock on button. They should have designed it so you could use this feature with one hand. Other than that it is a nice tool and priced right.Read full review...

Wouldn't buy any other corded grinder.
This is my second Makita grinder. My first grinder lasted 27 years just grease and a couple of sets of brushes. The absolute best corded grinder I've ever owned!

Great tool
Had a home coccrete project that required a grinder with dust extraction. Tried a $40 Porter Cable and $30 after market dust shield. Grinder OK, shield would not fit. Bought a $90 DeWalt, shield would not fit. Found this Makita 9557PB a bit cheaper, and also bought the matching $45 dust shield. Performed GREAT together, very happy, highly recommend.Read full review...
