This text has given me a deep insight into the person of Karol Wtyola who would become a Pontiff like no other. The over 100 page introduction by Waldstein captures the mind, heart and soul of John Paul II by providing the reader with the philosophical and spiritual influences of JP II as well as how these ideas would bring him to writing a Theology that is at once unique and yet essential to our lives. I'm amazed by how many people, including myself, were or are still unaware of the fact that John Paul II delivered his thoughts on the Theology of the Body during over 100 addresses in his Wednesday audiences mostly in the 1980s. These insights have now been effectively translated into English in this text and what they contain are life changing truths about the human condition and the purpose of our lives in the here and now. John Paul is no stranger to writing about our sexuality and how our bodies are in and of themselves living sacramentals that speak truths that are unfortunate overlooked in our sensationalistic society. If one finds the introduction overwhelming, they can still benefit from the writings on the Theology of the Body itself. I for one am indebted to Waldstein for helping me to understand more about the developments of JP II's thoughts and I highly recommend this text.

Another author I recommend highly for those who are forever young or who would like to help young people have a healthy wholesome understanding of their sexuality is Jason Evert who has developed an entire curriculum for young people on the the Theology of the Body and other shorter works. Classic Catholic Theology text.

I purchased this product for my own personal education regarding Pope Blessed John Paul II's teaching. I also use this source for background knowledge and teaching in my high school youth ministry. I love that this edition has all translated articles from JPII's Wednesday audiences. The prologue and introduction are wonderful resources on their own.Read full review...
