Maypole Trickle charger...
Just use my Triumph Spitfire for a few months during the summer...
With a previous 500mA low-current charger, the battery only lasted 4 years ....
This charger actually turns itself off when battery fully charged & just 'tops up' the battery as required...
Wire & battery croc-clips are substantial !!
It's LED indicator is actually very informative as to what it's doing - if lights switched on in car for a very short period, LED changes from green (inactive) to red (charging) & back to green....

Cable to charging point VERY SHORT !
Great price, item looked like a good basic trickle charger but as I checked it out I found that the cable from charger to charging point was VERY SHORT indeed.....so short that it does not reach beyond the vehicle wing, you would need to fit an extension lead from half way down the car wing to even a power point near there.....to me, this renders this trickle charger useless for use with an installed car battery. Trickle for good batteries, not dead batteries.
Great product once you understand how it works. This trickle charger will not charge a battery from flat. There needs to be a good amount of voltage in the battery for it to take charge and go through its 3 stages. If your car battery is totally dead i.e. wont start the car, linking it to this trickle wont charge it. In my case I had the leave a booster pack connected to my dead battery for 2 hours so the dead battery could soak up some voltage from the booster pack. Once the dead battery had voltage, i connected the trickle charge and it took charge. It did take a while for the light to blink green (4 days) but now the trickle charger is left safely on all the time so it can maintain that full charge state. This charger is designed to keep good batteries topped up safely with very low power output. Do not buy if you want to charge a dud battery, you need a propper battery charger for that, not this type of trickle. Once working though its spot on. Read full review...
