Okay console.

I bought this for my wife who uses an exercise program. I searched for games that I would like to play but have yet to find any. It is a full featured console and it is easy to use or figure out how to use. I do not like the shape as it makes it difficult to add into a storage console unit, home entertainment center etc. But default it video records you which took us by surprise. The tray open button needs to be redesigned and moved to a different location. It is too easy to touch and it is very sensitive. It is quite when runnning and does not appear to get too hot. Overall I believe that the next generation or two might make it unbeatable if Microsoft would only listen to the feedback.Read full review...

excellent

I have owned numerous xbox 360's since they came out. I Started with the original 20 gig, and after having some issues with some accessories with it (the intercooler i bought literally melted into the back of my 360) so i upgraded to the Elite. I loved the console, and never once had an issue with it. but there were always some negative things about it, including the noise, the size of the power brick, and how hot the games would get at times while playing. I only bought this at midnight but I can say its great so far, and you save 50 bucks by getting this bundle.

What i love so far:

- love the new look. my elite was black, but the console was bulky. the new one has a sleek design and is more compact.

- The touch sensitive buttons are cool, you don't even have to press.

- The power brick is much smaller, and leaves way more room.

- The xbox is much more quiet

- 3 USB hookups is great

- 250 gig hard drive is all i will ever need.

- The kinect is just amazing. works extremely well, recognized my every movement and voice command. the is definitely next gen gaming. Its just awesome. already used video chat, and the camera actually follows you around, whether you go up or down or anywhere. i cannot wait to use it more

XBOX 250GB Slim is worth the price for the upgrade

This review is to focus on the differences that are not on a "standard" XBOX 360 Arcade and the "former" Elite, and rate the system as a new purchase, not an upgrade or replacement to your current XBOX 360, but overall.

When the XBOX Slim was first announced @ E3 2010, this was the most significant upgrade to the XBOX 360 platform since the update of the Elite. With an initial release price tag of $299 – the new Slim model includes many updates that may entice a buyer to upgrade, or choose this model over the previous model. These items include:

• HDMI and optical audio output
• 250GB internal hard drive
• Integrated wireless adapter with N wireless capability
• Kinect Ready (Microsoft Motion Hardware)
• Slimmer model with lower power consumption
• Sleek black body housing with touch sensitive DVD and Power “buttons”
• 5 USB ports

Almost everything about the classic Xbox 360 in white has changed with the announcement of the Slim: It runs cooler, quieter, and shiny, sexy new black. The increased venting on the side of the XBOX and the one larger fan make this thing run cool. This thing won't "red ring" because the XBOX now has an automatic shutoff to prevent overheating. The bad things that have changed are that the XBOX Slim does not come with a component cable (standard AV only), no Ethernet cable, no real extras – just bare bones.

There is a new 45-nanometer (Valhalla) chip designed with integrated CPU and GPU. The redesigned chip improves energy consumption by as much as half from the originally released XBOX, and this is the reason it makes it run quieter, and it decreases the size. In terms of processing power, there isn’t much difference. Also, this console will of course be backwards compatible with all existing Xbox 360 titles, but one thing missing is a slot for the memory cards that were specific to the original 360s. However, you can use your USB drive to transfer data or take your profile with you on the go.

Don't let the black slick body distract you; the only thing you need to ask is if it improves the performance quality - and after many reviews and hours using this machine, the answer is YES. This thing is so quiet, and slick, that the form factor and performance make it worth the money. Compared to the Arcade or the XBOX Elite's noise level – you will notice the lack of sound when you power this thing on. The 250GB hard drive upgrade is nice for all that downloadable content that you have been picking up on the market place.

Should you buy it?

Guys like me who are gamers and video geeks? Ya, this is for you. The fact that all that video and audio is being piped through a HDMI/optical output is a bonus, that the wireless (with N) is integrated, and the increased hard drive space, not to mention Kinect Ready – this is a significant upgrade. Also, this is so much cooler and quieter, that alone makes it worth the upgrade.

Final Verdict: BUY IT

Pros:
• Same price as the previous Elite Model, but with a 250GB Hard Drive
• Sleek design and styling
• Smaller, cooler operation than the original
• It is significantly quieter
• Built in WiFi (with N)

Cons:
• Hard Drive change can make it difficult to take your content with you
• Odd way to remove the hard drive (could potentially cause problems)
• No HD (HDMI or Component) cables without additional purchase
• No Blu-ray player
• The fancy shine is easily smudged with fingerprints

AWESOME!!!

Pros: Quiet
Plays nice
Decently cheap for a new xbox system
Size is very small, can fit inside of the old xbox.
Wish it came with the gloss black instead of the flat black.

Cons: The only dig that I have on the xbox is that the wireless sucks. I couldn't keep the signal. So I hooked up my old antenna and used that. Works great now!!!

Summary: Good machine if you are getting it for the wireless forget it. The buttons on the system are really cool. If something breaks it would be hard to fix. It is nice because if you have an old hard dive it is easy to convert it and put it into the slim. Overall if you are looking for quiet and nice looking buy it. Other than that don't. The older versions suffice just fine.

Sleek design, quiet operation, wi-fi, HD compatibility, extra usb ports.

Fun console for any type of gamer :)

So far I have greatly enjoyed the new Xbox360 Slim with the Kinect. The Kinect games such as Dance Central are great party games and are even good for just a laugh if you aren't good at it. The system has a good variety of games from easy to play child or family games to more challenging simulation or RPG games. The Xbox itself has an easy to use interface and makes getting new updates or buying from the market easy. The large hard drive is also a blessing, especially when in a household with several hardcore gamers. The large hard drive makes it easy to continue playing without having to ever think of buying another hard drive for a long time. Overall I am very pleased with the system :)Read full review...

The Truth

If they had negative stars thats what this would get. The slim is only expected to live for 1 year before the ring of death comes. Thermal reading show that the slim runs hotter then the original xbox 360 and YES the slims DO HAVE XCLAMPS, which cause the ring of death. your best option is to buy a 360 and have the RRoD kit installed, the slim is not worth the built in wifi, the wireless adapters for the 360 out perform the slim. Overall the slim is a down grade, less performance and more problems. I have been fixing xbox's since they first launched and so far the slim is the worst thing to hit the shelves. if you know someone who has one ask him to touch the top of it when its been on for a little bit, he will tell you its very hot. You don't need to know everything about computers to know that they DON'T LIKE HEAT. And the price of the hard drive, what a joke, i have been making 250BG hard drives for $80 since they came out. don't get ripped off, do your research first.Read full review...

This is no doubt the future of entertainment!

First impression:
While a child can easily set this up, the interface still seems like it has room to improve (which i'm it will, given Microsoft consistent updates to Xbox Live.
You wave to signal or 'wake-up' the Kinect, which calibrates and recalibrates based on your present position, area size, position, etc.

After Setup:
The first game I'd played was Kinect adventure, since if Microsoft did anything right to demo this thing, it would probably be the showcased disc. My wife and I (both professionals) had a BLAST! The Kinect allowed us to play simultaneously; so, the competition was on! Each of us trying to jump, dodge, sway, duck, and hop our ways to the highest score. Not only was it tons and tons of fun, but, anyone can do it. In addition, as athletes, my wife and I were drenched and exhausted as if we had just come back from the gym (and we'd only played for roughly half an hour). I don't even remember the last time I had so much fun that didn't realize how tired I was getting in the process. We had owned a Wii, but, this thing is just on another level with voice recognition, joint and bone detection, facial recognition, etc.

Hacked to run Windows 7!
There are youtube videos that show how to hookup the Kinect to Windows 7. I just can't believe that the age of the mouse is finally over. I'm willing to bet the barn that the technology is being perfected for Windows 8. Perhaps the recent movie 'Gamer' had portrayed the most accurate depiction of the near future. We're really on the verge of something awesome and heck yeah I'm excited about it. Wouldn't it be great if humanity can just focus on that rather than the craziness going on these days.

Final thoughts:
If nothing else, if present trends progress, no one can deny that the technology in this device will change our everyday lives in the near future. While the present variety of games are limited, I'm confident that developers will shine through with some game changers (perhaps even creating full sub-genres) for not only gaming, but, all AI-run forms of entertainment.

Fun 2 Play Not so Good Price

I have played the kinect @ a relatives house and been searching for 1 myself but I havent seen any that are worth buying even like this one, reserve not met??? A lot of people say it looks like a good price and keep bidding higher and higher which I believe you need to learn to bid and learn how much they really cost brand new. $299.99 for the 4gb and $399.99 for the 250gb @ bestbuy and yes it is the bundle costs. Why buy a used or new 1 for the same price plus shipping when you can go 2 bestbuy and receive it there without haveing 2 wait. I might as well buy it @ bestbuy and letting you know 2 so you wont waist money and time. Also if your xbox brakes with the red ring and you dont tamper with it you can call 1-800-4myxbox, let them know your xbox broke, and they will give you an email and a confirmation # so you can send it to them and give you a new 1 but dont send in your hard drive you wont get that back. Hope this information helps.Read full review...

the Kinects really puts you in the game making it more fun and it also gives you a good work out as well.

Had one before and it is just the way I remember. The kinects really makes you work jumping, ducking, moving side to side. Then swinging you arms or feet to hit things. It really gives you a good work out. Only have Kinect games right now but graphics are good and really put you in the gameRead full review...
