Good Wireless Cable Modem - Motorola Surfboard SBG 900

This is a great item for a beginner and novice of wireless products. This product keeps you having to purchase a wireless router separate from your cable modem. I would have rated it "Excellent" except for the wireless cable modem does not have any additional network ports. That is my only complaint. I currently have the Motorola SBG 1000 wireless modem and it has 5 additional network ports, printer server port, phone setup port, additional printer parallel cable port and two wireless antennas. Overall, I would definitely recommend the wireless cable modem to anybody.Read full review...

Buy this over the Linksys garbage.

The only two wireless modems are this one and the Linksys, which I owned previously. The Linksys had a smaller range and would drop connection when attempting to download files greater than 100K, requiring the modem to have power recycled. Linksys customer support is non-existent. The Motorola product is better quality, range, and I can wirelessly download media files (ex. Hulu) with no problems. Installation was plug and play. Connection to Cox was easy, as the system configured itself. The only con you could find to the Linksys is the Motorola has only one ethernet connection in the rear; the Linksys had four.Read full review...

A Quick Review of the Motorola "Surfboard SBG900" Modem

A Quick Review of the Motorola "Surfboard SBG900" cable/wi-fi modem.

I would have to say this is the best experience i have had with a modem. Very easy to setup, just plug it in and access settings at "http://192.168.100.1"

Pro's

Wi-Fi range is great.
Quick and easy to setup, even without manual.
Lots of security and firewall options built-in.

Con's

Advanced menus can be a bit overwhelming.

9 out of 10 stars.

Motorola SBG900 is a Fine Product

I like that this product is a cable modem and a wireless router. I love that it is easy to configure. Based on past experiences, I simply connected to the ethernet port, pointed my browser to 192.168.0.1, and logged in with user=admin and password=password. I dislike that the security protocols are not the latest/greatest and there is no power switch, but these are minor points.Read full review...

Motorola SURFBoard SBD900 Cable Modem

Works as both a modem and router. Very easy to set-up and work with no problem with Comcast. Since this was a used router, the network name was already set, maybe the previous owner set the name of the network. I am sure I could change the name of the network, but every works fine so I didn't bother.Read full review...

All in one convenience!

Love it! For some reason I've always had trouble with connecting a seperate wireless router to my old Motorola Surfboard Cable Modem. I've tried 2 different wireless routers (Linksys and D-Link) but they would frequently "lock up" or crash and I would loose wireless service. No more worries now. If my Motorola SBG900 Cable Modem with the Built-In Wireless Router is working, the wireless is up and running... period. Works flawlessly, even after power outages. No more IP problems. My VOIP phone works great now too as long as the SBG900's built-in firewall is turned off.Read full review...

SBG900 Cable Modem

This cable modem/router combo has solved a minor issue and gave me some needed space on my desk. Heck open the box, did a quick hook-up, and spent over 45mins. on the phone with Time Warner Cable just to give them a few numbers/letters. But it was worth every minute, think I made a very smart buy.Read full review...

Cable Modem and Wireless

I have comcast cable internet and this modem has worked flawlessly. In terms of setup for the modem I simply plugged it in and it was ready to go. Comcast has a list of approved modems for their internet, if you dont have comcast you might want to make sure this modem is supported. Otherwise I would strongly recommend it.Read full review...

Easy to setup. If you buy it on ebay just juse a paperclip to reset it

It older model but works great with Charter Cable Internet. Better than renting a modem from the. I used a paperclip to reset the modem back to the default since buying in on ebay the seller may have changed the default admin password.Read full review...
