Motorola Talkabouts Are The Standard

I first got talkabouts to communicate with snow ski partners. I have my original set that I bought 20 years ago. Range does not compare to today's units, but still adequate for my application. Cell phones replaced, as technology changed. However, now I am back for the same use case with my kids on the slopes. They are absolutely perfect and cost make sense.
