Excellent KISS CD. Unique and very different Kiss recording. Very different from anything else they’ve done.

I think this is an excellent KISS Record. It’s completely different from anything else they’ve ever done. They stepped outside their formula on this one and I like it.
I’m an old Kiss fan from 1976. I was 11 years old when I first heard KISS.
I remember hearing it when it first came out and at first I didn’t care for it much. But my friend and I would drive around in his 1959 Ford as teens and he played it over and over in his cassette player. 😂
I remember how I started to really like it and remember saying to him that you can’t think of the KISS that you were used to. Almost like you have to think of it like it’s a different band.
It was a similar feeling to getting used to Rush when they were transitioning from the sound they had refined up to moving pictures when Signals came out. It took me a while to get used to it. Then you learn to love the change.
I have read where Gene and Paul regret making this record and how fans didn’t like it. That makes me kind of sad because I think it was an amazing experiment with beautiful melodies and vocals. And a storyline that for me has a metaphorical meaning hidden in a fictional character, that captures the fear and excitement of having to become a man at a young age. And in that journey, having to overcome and stand up to the evil that exists in the world and defeating it.
I can’t help but think of Gene leaving Israel at a very young age and having to overcome the things he faced being in a new country as a child.
Over the top review? Probably. But I hope you will give it a try. Listen to it with an open mind and listen to it many times. It will grow on you in wonderful way.Read full review...
