Don't have to share a network with your guests.

The Netgear N600 is stable and goes out further. It has two networks streaming at a max of 300 mbps on each network. One network could be used for your own computers, cell phone and apps. The other guest network can be used for products available to the public such as Alexia, guest cell phones and guest laptops. This protects your privacy on your primary network from visitors and friends.Read full review...

Netgear

I have used netgear routers for years, This is the first that was junk. I am running windows 10 and you cannot setup on windows 10 so I thought it was that problem until I tried it on my windows 7 computer and the thing was dead. Now it may be that this was a fluke, the dead part defiantly. This may be a good product but all I could salvage was the power supply. I put it on my netgear single band no problems with it . I still recommend netgear because I have had good luck with my others. I have spoken with a few people and most have had problems with this model. Read full review...

Good value for the price. Refurbished seems to be like-new.

I bought a refurb WNDR3400, not a new one. The $35 price can't be beaten. This is the second wireless router I've owned. I just bought a Netgear WRN2000 brand new in July, and then this N600 dual band router came up, so I upgraded. I expected stronger signal strength from the N600 WNDR3400, but I'm not really seeing any improvement in range and/or signal strength compared to my basic N300 router. They both perform the same; no change in signal strength or dropouts has been evident, so far. In that respect, I'm a little disappointed in the N600. That's why I rated it 4/5 for performance.

The N600 does offer more features, though. Not as many routers and wireless devices are on the 5GHz band, and having dual-band will be useful to me if I move to a more urban area.

The big blue light on mine apparently can't be turned off. But a friend has one, and he can turn off that light by tapping it. I've tried numerous times on mine, but no dice, haha. I guess I just have to turn it off if anyone wants to sleep in that bedroom.

Overall, I think it's a solid router, and an extremely good deal for $35. It offers more features and more customizations than the more basic routers do. It's still pretty good at $54 refurbished, but if you search around the Internet you may be able to get it for closer to $35 - $40 at Tiger Direct or other stores that offer refurbished items.

eta 9/12/12: After changing the wifi adapter to a pci-e D-Link DWA-566 and connecting on the 5GHz band, and depending on what server I pick, I have seen (speedtest.net) pings as low as 18, downloads 28.5-29, and uploads are pretty much stuck at .9-.96 regardless of what adapter or router I use. Those are nearly the same results that I get with the ethernet connection, and are limited by the slower but more budget-friendly Internet service option that I picked.

Great router, Great Value, no support for refurbished units.

This router seems to be just fine, but Netgear support is "Worthless". Keeping in mind that I bought a refurbished unit, I still expected to get a little help when I called, but got no help at all. Unless of course I wanted to pay $40 for a one time assist or $79 for 90 days worth. Enough said about that. If you buy one of these refurbs you can go online and download the manual and quick start guide, which helps greatly. One thing to keep in mind is that when you first connect everything remember to unplug your modem and take out the battery before connecting the two. At first I didn't and had problems. After trying again correctly, the router hooked up and recognized the modem and went through the setup process just fine. It now is working great and my connection is about 10% faster and seems much more stable.Read full review...

Great router - great cheap clone wireless repeater

I owned one of these when I purchased a second to create a repeater for wireless connectivity. It worked first try; there's a detailed procedure within the router itself when you browse to it as admin. I was getting a -65 to -75dbm upstairs then after the install I'm getting -30 to 35dbm!
The thing to remember is that the repeater must be a wired connection to your base router. The ethernet ports in the repeater can also be used, thus providing multiple computer/devise access wherever you set it up. If you have a basic understanding of routers, you can significantly increase your wireless range by cloning your base unit, just get the exact same thing, turn off DHCP on the repeater and make any manufaturer's adjustments and you're good to go.

A decent router for the price

First of all I bought the WNDR3400 router used on an Ebay auction for $25 and at first had issues installing it. Once I reset it to factory specs and used the pre-loaded Netgear SSID and network key it has worked well. I tried using my own SSID and Password but it was no go. I gave up and used the Netgear pre-loaded ones. I bought the product to replace a Netgear wireless 54G router (that worked well by the way) in order to upgrade my home network to "N" speed. I wanted the dual band as I thought it would be the best for streaming movies and such through my blu-ray player. I am not quite sure that the dual band was necessary as I don't live in a crowded area. I only use the 5 Ghz band with my blu-ray player and have noticed the connection invariably drops while watching a program or movie. I don't know if it's the router or my blu-ray player as resetting the player brings back the connection. I use the 2.4 Ghz band for my computers and my WII and connections have been rock solid. The speed on the 2.4 Ghz band is faster than a direct wired connection but not appreciably so. Being that this router was used there were no instructions with it so I had to go to the Netgear website to download everything I needed. I consider myself somewhat knowledgeable when it comes to setting up these kind of things but even so I thought it an accomplishment that it works.Read full review...

Netgear N600 Wireless Dual Band Router works well

It's not the latest version, but it does have 5G band if you're setup can handle it.

Works well in our environment and would recommend this to the home (small business) user.

No range! But great speeds. Can be compared to the N150 in range.

Let me just start with this. If you need this router for (RANGE) LOOK ELSEWHERE! I bought this thinking it would cut straight through my thin mobile home drywall but i was wrong. It has the range of the N150 which i bought this to replace it. I get 95% signal 7ft away with no obstructions and 70% signal at 35ft and one thin wall. This router is not worth the full retail! I bought it for $40 so im pleased but at $80 i would be outraged! Now i didnt give it a one because of the speed i get 150mbps at 70% signal which makes up for it. I primarily use this for downloading 50gb games or streaming HD viideos. Its fast but has no range at all. It looks good and i love the design and speed but its not worth full retail at all. My Peplink Soho puts this thing in the dust on its lowest WIFI power setting i get 100% through almost all my house and at maximum it reaches my mailbox at almost 1000ft away! Granted the peplink is $120 and this is $80 full retail the Peplink is a better bargain. Really disappointed in Netgear on this one. I'll still be getting Netgear products but if peplink gets less commercial and more small business or family routers/adapters i will say farewell to netgear.Read full review...

Great value and range

If you have a wireless router from 2005 (54 mb) and you start adding more devices to your wifi network (netflix, smart tvs, playstation etc) and things stop working intermittently, might be time for an upgrade. This little guy is cheap enough, has great range, is easy to configure,(but also has advanced settings qos, etc) and the dual range can allow you to split your wireless traffic. PC's/phones on 2.4 frequency (300 mbs) and all other bandwidth hogs (netflix from your smart tv etc) on the 5g frequency (300 mbs).Perfect for the typical home usage (Dec 2015) No need to spend 100+ for the latest and greatest unless you have so many wireless devices and your internet speed is rediculous. then I wouldnt recommend this.Read full review...
