A classic game that deserves another look!!!
NHL 2002
A blast from the past.
Players are blocky, and skate funny, but the gameplay is fast and furious.
It's pretty easy to score, but who cares.
This game is the first to add Don Taylor as a color commentator, and even though I love Don Taylor on Sportnet news, the phrase "Too much of a good thing" comes to mind.
I really like the playing card addition to this game as well. The game allowed you to gain points for achieving certain goals, some easy Score a Hatrick some not so easy Accumulate 1000 assists over your career. You could unlock cool trading cards with player info on them, and you could also unlock a bunch of cheats.
Want to get your 500 goals and 1000 assists faster? Switch to the computer controlled team and pull your goalie, then stick the pass button down so your players won't hold onto the puck. Just make sure your team doesn't score over 200 goals a game or it will crash.
The ability to stack your team with every good player from the league, due to the minors system is funny, but not the greatest feature. This game allowed you to have up to 80 players on your team 40 in the pros and 40 in the minors. Even though it's kind of ridiculous, it made the game easier for people who weren't very good.

Rent or Buy?: Another classic, this one I'd actually recommend picking up in addition to NHL 06 or NHL 07. This game is really fun, and the trading card system is a blast.

Best EA NHL game if you just want to have fun!
I'll admit, this game does not have the best graphics not the best game play but if there is any reason you should ever get this game is because of the intensity. Trust me you will almost be laughing on how much fun this game is. The hits are amazing and very funny to watch, the card feature in the game can bring in excitement, the commentary is also very funny. Trust me, this is one of the games that will never get old. If only the new ones were just like this. If the new games had the commentary, card feature, harder hits, and the gameplay and control of the new games, we would have an ultimate EA NHL game of the century!Read full review...
Great year for EA's NHL series
The last version in EA's NHL series that allows you to put your face in the game. That in itself is worth the price of admission.
