Even I could use it
Ok, I am no mechanic; I can just about show you where the wheels are on my car! So when it came to purchasing jump starter to actually start the car we were venturing into an alternative Universe. But along comes The NOCO GB 40 Boost. The most important feature to me is the safety feature. Believe me, when your not familiar with the workings of your car, this feature is vital.
Unless you press the over ride, which cancels out the safety features, this little unit is safe enough even for me. Using the GB40 is very easy. My car had been standing idle for a month before using the GB40. When the gadget arrived I needed to power it from the mains for about an hour. I took it outside and managed to start my Diesel 2L on the second attempt.
I like the other features of this little gem, it can power up your phone and I Pad on long journeys. There is a torch with various modes including SOS incase you are lost at Sea.The Unit is small, light but solid and well made, and comes with a storage bag.
Downside is the short lead length which is not a problem if your battery connections are on top, you would struggle if the battery was sideways. If the Company made the leads a little longer I would give a 5 star rating. Its a little unfair for me to take a star away because for me this was not a problem but if your connections are not easy to get to then this is not the product for you.

Could not start 4.6 litre petrol engine
Product was supposed to jump start petrol vehicles up to 6 litres, It could not start my 4.6 litre petrol engine. It lit up dashboard and interior lights but did not have power/quality to start the engine. I tried it on the contact points under the bonnet, would not start. Then I removed all the boot floor and attached it direct to the battery and it still would not start the vehicle.

David vs Goliath!
This thing is just INCREDIBLE... I drive an old 3.0L six cylinder engine that take s a fair but to crank, and this thing does it with ease.. Not just once, but 2, 3 4 and 5 times before it even goes down to 75% battery level... Crazy that once I needed a massive Jump Pack, and now this, including the cables fits into a small men's wash bag. (Exactly what I keep it in under the seat)...
Astonishingly good. Time will tell if it lives up to the Life expectancy, but so far so good!
If you have a big engine car, this thing will jump it... You only need the higher Ampage model if you're starting massive engines... Most cars will be brought to life with this, no probs..
Charging is quick too. I advise you to get a PortaPow micro USB (full speed charger cable, data blocked) for it and a proper 2.4a USB charger, and it will be fully charged from flat in 3 hours...

NOCO GB40. Never be without one.
this device is amazing. I had been having car battery problems. the battery seemed to be losing charge but as it was fairly new, I could not understand why. After getting jump starts on a few occasions, a friend came with his NOCO genius GB70 and whilst I did not need a boost then I decided to get myself a NOCO. My car has a smaller engine to I went for the GB40, sufficient power for my needs as 1000 amps. I have used the device on several occasions with amazing results. No need for another car and jump leads. just lift the bonnet and attach booster as per instructions and even with battery rating as low as 9.4 vols, the car started no problem. The device can be charged up with the UsB cable either from a standard mobile phone type charging plug and can even charge via the power socket in the car whilst driving. Te unit is supplied with a usb car adaptor. Confidence on the road and when somebody is in trouble.
Didn't try it and hope never to use it, but if you have it, you are prepared in case of need and in case somebody needs help on the road. So, for sure it brings confidence with its excellent built quality and multi features like flash light and option to use it as a power bank for your smart phone/electronics. You may consider the designation you buy it for. For example if intend to use it for motorbike, the clamps are huge. The smaller NOCO GB20 might be more appropriate type, but better to be checked first. I choose the GB40, due to higher capacity and versatility (can use it for the car as well). Amazing performance
I went to use one on not one but two cars that had flat batteries, the unit itself was flat so I connected it to my own car charger for about an hour whilst going somewhere else. Upon returning to the two cars with flat batteries I first connected it to a 4.5 litre V8 Porche Cayenne, which to my surprise it started at the third attempt. I then connected it to a BMW 640 4.0 litre diesel, not expecting it to be able to start this vehicle as it has been stood unused for about six months, much to my surprise this vehicle also started at the third attempt. Given my success using this product I can only recommend it. With respect I can only assume the reveiwers that have had poor results must be doing sommething fundamentally wrong or perhaps there vehicles would not have started even with brand new batteries.Read full review...

Worth it for me!
I have to say not being one to write reviews this item for me was worth the money and was simple as hell to use.
Charges via USB so no messing around took about 1.5hr from taking out of the box. It was smaller than I expected but well built.
After that down to Hybrid vehicle pop the bonnet attach to the battery and I used the manual override section as initially the charge button didn’t get the engine to start but once I change to Manual boom instant action and that was that.
Many other items can be charged on with the USB ports so a winner in that sense.

had to use this product for the first time yesterday,it failed to start our transit 2500 cc diesel until i used the boost mode and that kicked her into life maybe i should have gone for the GB70 this booster is both over rated and over priced I'm sorry but we have to be honest on here,therefore i cannot recommend this product.stick with the big heavy boosters that have a lead acid battery,as they do the job just fine .UPDATE my wife has just used this booster on her Peugeot 206 and it burst into life the car had not been running for six weeks she loves the light weight safety features and ease of use.so that's my mothers day prezzie taken care of.as for me i may well try the GB70 for our minibusRead full review...

Worked as advertised
Already paid for itself by starting my dead car on the first twist of the key once it was set up. As I was in a rush this saved the day. May seem a bit expensive at first but if it gets you out of a jam and works as advertised then who can complain.
What I liked about this booster was its ease of use. Clamp the cables to the dead battery. Switch it on. Go to your car and start the engine. Remove the Noco, store it away, and drive off.
