Good gimbal.

I’m glad I didn’t spend almost 10 times as for a different brand name one. This moves very smoothly and is extremely sturdy. I didn’t have the problem with extra thick grease mentioned in other reviews. The only reason I didn’t give it five stars is because it has a useless bubble level. I’m not sure the point of it as it’s on the side. It makes no sense that it was even put there. It is an awesome value!Read full review...

Not Bad

When I received the Neewer Gimbal Head I was impressed with the quality. This thing is built strong and built to last. I took it out and attached it to my tripod, screwed on perfectly. I released the top knob and nothing happened, I had to forcefully move the bracket. I then released the bottom knob and it barely moved, it took extreme force to twist it around. I was extremely disappointed in this product. I took it completely apart, inside there was some kind of sticky grease. Not sure what they used, but it’s horrible for long term. It took lots of goo gone, I used an entire bottle. But once all the sticky junk was off, I cleaned each piece with soap and water and let dry. Then I used bearing grease and coated all appropriate parts and put it back together, and AMAZING!! Everything moves freely.

Now this may seem like a lot of work, but affording a great gimbal head costs a lot of money. The one I really want is $550, and for someone who does this as a hobby, and can’t obviously afford that or I would have purchased it first. Cleaning it out made a great gimbal head.

So you decide if it’s worth it. I did!

Hope this review helps...

once the grease was all gone could not ask for more. very happy with it.

pros low cost vs others, Good quality and finish, should last a life time.

used my own Teflon spray lube and works great now.

Cons bought planning on having to remove the thick grease I've heard about took 1.5 hr to get all the grease out had consistency of peanut butter. found best way was lots of papper towels and scrap it all out after dissembling gimbal. Sprayed with Teflon lube and works great now.

wish there was a better way to grip the lower half in order to tighten down to the tripod base.

Built like it's going into battle

I've used this 4 times so far and am very impressed. Especially with the material. When I say that I also have to include a warning that if you don't want to carry around something that is close to 3 pounds find something cheaper made.
I'm using a Canon 70D with 18 to 135 lens and it has supported it at many different angles and distances off center with ease.

Great product - after changing lubrication.

As received, the extremely high-tack lubricant impeded movement in both vertical and horizontal planes. Disassembled and removed very sticky lubricant with WD-40 degreaser. Lubricated with a standard automotive grease and achieved the necessary free movement in both planes. Several videos on YouTube show how to dissemble and re-grease.

Built like a tank and exceptional value for the product. In use every day and I am quite happy with the product.

It lost a star due to need to re-lubricate.;

Good value

Action on pan and tilt not smooth out of the box. I took it apart and found I assume what is suppose to be grease or lubricant but was more the consistency of paste. Once all this goop was removed (took a lot of Goo Gone and acetone) and replace with bicycle crank shaft grease the action is much smoother. I will need to work on the lower part to make panning smoother.
With all this time spent on making a smoother gimbal head I would have been better off spending the extra dollars.

Holds my 12 lbs of camera equipment

Yes, there was a minor lube issue as seen on YouTube, was an gooie but easy fix. But would work just fine without modifying. As you will see in my pic I have it mounted with a Nikon fD810 w/battery grip shooting a Sigma 800mm telephoto lens. Total weight is 12lbs. Compared to the $500 to $600 name brand, the pound or two weight difference and name brand bragging rights, it is well worth the purchase.Read full review...

Worth for paying!!!

The head's design panning base has zero play. The pan locking knob function is good. Vertical moving slide is bit shaky and quality slightly lacking. But the knob allows the user to operate easy and to adjust by using same hand. Good one for beginners!!!!Read full review...

Heavy duty build and great price makes the Neewer Gimbal head a great value!

The Neewer Heavy Duty Gimbal Tripod Head is really solidly built. I was immediately impressed by the overall construction and design. I have used it a number of times now and find if perfect for my heavy camera and lenses. It looks like it will last a long time too.

My only negative experience with this gimbal head was that, when it arrived, there was a "lubricant" that was used throughout the whole item that was almost like a blend of vaseline and super glue. This rendered it unusable until I took it apart, cleaned out the gel, and added my own lubricant.

Due to the incredible price, having to change all the lube didn't bother me. This is a very solid and well made product..Just not sure why they use the strange, ineffective lube.
