Sharp, fast enough!

This lens is sharp wide open for most of its range. This makes the lens useful, and fast enough for most purposes.

The lens is big and quite solid, but that is usual for this focal length. The Nikon 1.4x teleconverter will add even further useful range.Read full review...

Nikkor 200-500

Only had the lens for about 2 weeks but I have to say I love it so far. My images are sharp, the lens is easy to use particularly with a monopod/tripod, AF is not so quick but very reliable. The constant f5.6 aperture is a nice feature. I bought the camo covers to protect the lens from dust, water and scratches.Read full review...

Nikon Lens

Love the lens, I am not a pro photographer and can not afford a lens costing many thousands of dollars. This one did stretch the budget but it is far superior to my 55-300mm lens, being so much sharper. The VR is great. you can hand hold in most instances But you also need a sling to carry it for any distance. The lens is teamed with a Nikon D5300, so in effect is 300-700mm on this cameraRead full review...

good price point lens

I guess we all know that Nikon and Cannon make some fine lenses that run into the tens of thousands of dollars they are usually extremely good at there jobs because you get what you pay for , but and there is always a but they weigh several kilograms and you need a bearer to carry your gear . Not so with the 200-500 Nikkor its reasonably not heavy or bulky and sharp enough to scare fixed prime giants like the 500 Nikkor prime its not the same aperture as the biggies but its much more versatile for us peasants it does a great job try to shoot around F8 for better sharpness and corners VR is good Read full review...

Better than expected

This lens is supposed to be a Nikon budget lens. Well be in for a big surprise it's tack sharp and worth every penny. The auto focus jumps around a little in really low light but all in all a goody.

The Beast

Even as heavy, in this price I don't think Sigma or Tamron they are able to bit this lens.
