Love it

Excellent! Unless you want to go for the d850, I'd recommend the 800 over the 810 as it is significantly cheaper without sacrificing the important features of the camera. The detail on the photos is insane. I've attached a photo and the same photo cropped in to illustrate my point.Read full review...

Wow.

You’d better have excellent lenses because this thing is sharp enough to show their limits. Took a while to get used to it, and I made my living taking pictures for 35 years, but it also does an excellent job on autopilot. I just finished editing a photo of a cat that blew me away. The more I use it the more impressed I get. Read full review...

Awesome complex camera but easy to use!

This camera is feature packed and you'll love the pictures and videos it puts out. Even though is a complex camera with many functions, I found it easy to use to take great pictures with no effort .

Great camera for very skilled photographers.

The D800 makes you use your A game to get good images. It is very sensitive to shake and requires a very stable setting or higher shutter speed to get sharp shots. If you get it right the image is amazingly sharp.
The hype about high ISO low noise is not true in my opinion. If you need a camera that can shoot in low light without a f/2.8 lens use the D700. The D800 reminds me of my old D300 regarding ISO/noise.

Good price and excellent capabilities

This is my first Nikon FX camera and before that I was shooting a Nikon D7200. I took many photos over the past two weeks and the results are more than satisfactory to me. The Iso was wonderful and the details are excellent. The buttons are more intuitive and a lot of time can be shortened. I didn't shoot a lot of video on it because I use it more for photography. I am happy with this camera, its price is acceptable and its capabilities are excellent and I do not need more than this.Read full review...

Used D800

2020, if you are looking for a serious camera, how about the D850???? Yeah I know to expensive for me too. a 2012 predecessor the D800 is almost as good and can be found used, not cheaply but affordably, the differences are only apparent to the professionals who live and die by their work and are used to paying Thousands of Dollars for cameras and Lenses. FX, 36 Mega Pixels what's not to like? It doesn't have the lightning fast speed of the Sports photography D6 but do you really care, is 4 frames per second not enough for you? I came to this camera from a D7000 which was OK but a stepping stone for me. I'm still learning but 90% of what I have shot so far I really like. Find one with a low shutter count ( for me that was under 50k ) and in decent shape way under a thousand bucks if you look. If you don't have any FX lenses consider the Nikkor 50mm at 1.8, even new its dirt cheap this pair will rock your socks.Read full review...

Great camera loaded with features

Great camera, but definitely not a beginner’s camera. Pumps out big, beautiful images! This is my first digital camera, having shot film for the last 30 years. I’ve made the jump from several F3s to this digital body, but not without a bit of study beforehand. I’m shooting primarily in aperture priority mode since I have 16 Nikkor lenses, all manual glass. This is a lot of camera, especially for a first digital, but not as big an adjustment as I once thought. If I had it to do over, this would probably still be my first choice.Read full review...

Full frame

The most important advantage for me is the full frame. I still have to learn a lot of the unknown features, but I really enjoy it. Excellent quality.

The D800 is a "game changer" for Nikon the most sought after camera today

This camera is a "game changer" - with the pixel resolution and the HD video capability - nothing else can touch it at this time. I had the D-100, D2x
D3 and D700 - each camera was a quantum leap from the previous camera and the D800 is no exception. It handles and functions similalry to the D700 - however the upgrades are significant as one might expect over the last 3 years. If you want current state of art this is it....Read full review...
