Great machine. Glad we bought it.
As reviews state, excellent camera. We use Nikon's for many types of shots. This machine is outstanding in all areas. I find the cpu in our d5 to allow an ultra wide tele (Tamron 18-400) to remain in focus slightly more than than with this machine or our d4s or d810. Using the Nikon lenses the camera is unbeatable.Read full review...

The good and Not-So-Good
The Good: High resolution, excellent image quality, a more professional feature set. Tilt screen is a big improvement from the D800. Easy to navigate menus, and buttons well thought out and placed.
The Not-So-Good: Body is heavy & large, large hand grip, no pop-up flash (probably due to weather sealing), for more advanced photographers. Beginners avoid. For beginners and novices, take a look at the D750/D780 bodies which are smaller and lighter but still powerful machines.Read full review...

Move forward with the Nikon D850 and don't look back!
I upgraded from the Nikon D610 to the D850 and the difference is like night and day! Resolution is superb.
One of the most advanced full frame cameras yet produced by Nikon.
I will not outgrow this camera for quite some time. It's got all the features I could possibly want!Read full review...

What a capable piece of equipment
This camera has so many more features than any of my previous bodies. Exceptionally high resolution, electronic front-curtain shutter, and automated focus stacking just to name a few.

Excellent...but not all Nikon.
Great value on an incredible camera. Overseas camera, so no manufacturer warranty, but what a money saver, especially when bundled.
It should be noted that the battery grip and extra battery are not Nikon brand, but rather Vivitar, which runs much cheaper than the Nikon grip anyway.Read full review...

Great Product, save up for it and it will last you!
Pros:
45 megapixels is awesome coming from 24 haha.
Not only does it shoot raw images, it can shoot raw video as well.
LCD illumination on the top analog screen is a nice touch (optional)
Heavy and fits big hands well

Superb resolution in a full-frame DSLR
This is a marvelous camera; the pinnacle of Nikon's FX (full frame) camera family. At 45.7 megapixels, with innovative new sensor, auto-focus, and quality features, this is an amazing camera.

Great Camera.
This is well worth every penny. Incredible image quality. I might not be suited to a beginner, but anyone with some experience can grow into all the functions The D850 has.

Upgraded to a full frame camera
Upgraded from a Nikon D5500 to the D850. Many features that simplify shooting. 45 mega pixels aren’t so bad either. I shoot Nature and landscapes. Still to soon to give my thorough opinion, but I’m impressed so far.Read full review...

Nikon D850: One of the very best still cameras ever made
This camera incorporates all of the great controls and ergonomics that Nikon has fine-tuned over the decades and basically couples that meets or exceeds the resolution of medium format film. It took me a little while to get my head around this fact...but in comparisons, it's undeniable.
Mirrorless tech will be great when it reaches maturity, but for my purposes I don't see any clear advantages at this stage, and a few potential disadvantages (startup lag, reduced battery life, rolling shutter, etc.).
Note that my rating here is on the D850's performance as a still camera -- while it does provide very high quality video (and even better timelapse at 8k), autofocus limitations in video mode keep this from competing fairly with other cameras. That said, it's perfectly fine for simple pans and static shots without too much movement of a subject. [And if you can hire a focus puller, note that pretty much no scripted TV or film production you've ever seen in your life used autofocus. With sufficient testing, you could absolutely shoot a first film with this camera].
In summary: even including RZ67 Pro IIs, Hasselblads, etc -- the Nikon D850 might be the very best still camera I've ever used. It delivers amazing quality in an extremely smart, comfortable, rugged form factor. It's really that good.
