Blast from the Past

Overall great! Some games are poor but I'd you find the good ones, it's a great time. Games like Mortal Kombat are sluggish and delayed while Mario Land 2 runs perfectly. I do not know if it is because of this specific model or unit but some higher intensity areas of Mario Land 2 start to get jumpy and stutter. I previously owned a Gameboy Pocket and never recalled that issue. Sound is a bit weak when other noise is going on. These non-back-lit screens are a pain but the sacrifice for battery life is worth is. Fits comfortably and designed well.Read full review...

Trash

Discolored in a disgusting yellow hue. Screen glass full of scratches. Tried to play some games and the lcd screen tears and flickers at will. Does the same for all games. There's discoloration on the lcd too. Not worth 50 dollars. I was so excited to get this. So dissatisfied.Read full review...

Nintendo Game Boy Color

This is nearly the oldest version of game boy nintendo has come out with. IT actually works quite well for how undeveloped the design of the gameboy is. Obviously not as good quality as a wii or even a gameboy sp/advanced, but works decently well. It has color too which is a plus. I love how it is a rectangle instead of a square like a gameboy sp. I love the colors it comes in too! ( teal, purple, pink, lime green, yellow, red, white, blue... you name it!)
It is great for a child who wants a game boy but a parent doesnt want to pay over $100 for one. You will love the price and the kids will love playing it! Plus, its becoming a collector item, so watch out! The game boy color might be gone in a couple years! so buy yours now!

It's awesome, no matter how old it is!

I never had a GameBoy Color as a child. Two of my co-workers bought GameBoy Colors and started playing Pokemon. I decided to search for on on eBay and found one for a great price. I borrowed my boyfriend's Pokemon game. I got the game in mint condition. There's a lot of games for the Game Boy: Mario, Donkey Kong, Pokemon, you made it. It's also really easy to use. The graphics are nothing compared to today's systems, but if you don't mind it so much, then it's a great thing to have! IT can help pass time when you're on the subway or in the car. For anyone who needs a good throwback this would be for you. The only thing is that it does not have a back-light. You'll have to buy the separate attachment.Read full review...

Love this product--great color, comfortable to use. Screen-not great.

This product is so beautiful--the color is definitely far and beyond any of the other colors offered in the Game Boy Color line. This product is a personal favorite of mine, due to the compact size and radiant colors. Although the screen is weaker than the newer models and isn't a vast improvement from the previous models, it's beauty and is unrivaled. All of the buttons are perfect for your hands, and the ridge on the back of the device prevent any sort of hand cramps. Love this product and recommend it to anyone, especially collectors!Read full review...

Great little machine!

I bought a gameboy after Pokemon Go kept sucking my phone battery. BEST DECISION EVER! It is light and small...smaller than I remember actually but it might be because I used to play it with kids hands. Item arrived quickly and in good condition. I have not had any problems with the device and have been loving playing with it at home and on the train.Read full review...

Game Boy Color

Do you remember the Gameboy? It was about as big as one of them TI-83 Calculators that everyone seems to be into today, and had less buttons, and took more batteries. Everyone loved that huge little system. Then in 1996, Nintendo had this bright idea to create an improvement. But after the Virtual Boy got shutdown, Nintendo decided to just upgrade upon their good thing. So in 1998, we were introduced to the Gameboy Color.
Starting out with only two types of color at the time: Clear Atomic Purple and regular Grape (both purple), the Gameboy color seemed to have the upper hand at its launch, seeing how there was always virtually no competition in the handheld department. But even with the improvements that the Gameboy Color brought to the table, it STILL did not deliver like it should have.
The System
The Gameboy Color is like your simple Gameboy, only way smaller. Coming in your choice of six colors (as well as them limited edition Pokemon GBC's), you had a variety to choose from. On the surface, your Gameboy Color provides you with a small control pad, a Start and Select button, and the standard B and A buttons that are on EVERY Nintendo product and/or controller, as well as a screen that is the size of your classic Gameboy screen, though the border will make it seem smaller than it actually is. To the left side, you will find the volume wheel that would crank your sound from being too quiet up to "I can hear this as long as everything around me shuts up". You will also find a port that you can use your Gameboy Link Cable in, so you can connect to your friends Gameboy and play a two player game. To the top of the system is the standard Cartridge slot where you could stick a Game into or something else to get your buddies steamed up, and the hardly ever used Infrared port. To the right side of the system, you will find the power switch. Classic Gameboy had the power switch on the top, so this is much different than before. And at the bottom of your Gameboy Color are two slots: One for your headphones so you can hear the tunes of your game, and a very tiny slot big enough to slip an AC power adaptor into it.
Contained inside your Gameboy Color is a bunch of chips and stuff I don't know a thing about. The point of these chips is to allow you to play ANY Gameboy game, be it classic or Color. Naturally the 'plays ANY Gameboy game' line became obsolete at the time of the launch of the Gameboy Advance, but despite that your Gameboy Color already has a game library of over 500 some-odd games: good or bad. As an added bonus, these chips also allow you to play these classic games in a way you probably never played them before (unless you have a Super Gameboy of course): IN COLOR! No longer do you have to find yourself a nice corner to sit in and adjust the contrast so you can see a lighter shade of black and white, but now you can sit in that same corner and see everything in glorious color. Why do you have to sit in that corner still you might ask? Simple. The Gameboy Color creators say that putting in a Backlight would have cost more and would use up more of your batteries, so they made it so you have to sit in a direct light source to be able to play your games. This gets REALLY annoying, especially if you're playing in the car while driving through a forest or tunnel or something. If Nintendo had gotten rid of that semi useless Infrared adaptor, there could have been room for a backlight. Oh well.
So what's the deal with this Infrared dealie

Gameboy color looks brand new and barely used

Didn't expect this Gameboy color to come in such good condition. It looks like it was barely used. Upon opening, it needed minimal internal cleaning of the buttons and works great! I am definitely going to backlight the Gameboy due to it's lack of a lit screen, but the mod is very easy to do. Once the new screen mod is installed this will easily become my new most commonly used Gameboy instead of my ags 101 Gameboy advance sp.Read full review...

Very good product with a huge selection of games for it.

The Game Boy Color is a great handheld console. It comes in many different colors. It can play original Game Boy games and Game Boy Color games. It also plays games in color. There is a huge selection of great games for the Game Boy Color. Two bad things about it are that it can't play Game Boy Advance games and you can't see anything on the screen without having a light on somewhere.Read full review...

gameboy color

can you say old school? the gameboy color was and is a great system. its hours of fun for alot cheap price then a ds or a psp. i know the graphic are not the same, but the price makes up for that. you can play good old RPGs like pokemon and the rare dragon warrior 1 2 and 3. what i dont like about it is the battery cover. it some times missing on some and the batteries some times fall out.Read full review...

Back in the Game Boy Color way of life.

I got my 1st Game Boy when I was 51. Even took it to Europe several times with a 6-pack...of batteries. Earlier this year by beloved Game Boy Color lost it's life. Sadly, stores don't sell them anymore.
Wow, for Father's Day this year, 75 now, I got a "new" one. Boy oh boy I'm a player again thanks to my wife and eBay!
I am very satisfied with the product. It plays great, looks new, no issues and the service was great. Thank you!
