Retro nokias are da bomb!

Nokia 8310,300 pound when new 2003 or there abouts I paid 20 pound and it looks like new the battery last a week it is so cool looking unlike all these bland I phones I suggest people look back at these as a classic like say a ford Shelby! Buy one enjoy it before they become so collectible there price will rise a 100 fold.Read full review...

A classic handset in amazing condition.

Upon the receipt of this handset, I was most amazed by the excellent condition, despite a few minor defects on the casing. I'm sure I can excuse minor damage for a device that's over eight years old.<br>
Since have made the purchase, I have once again grown accustomed to the old and very basic Nokia phone software, which contrasts to the endless problems I had with the awful Symbian S60 operating system from the Sony Ericsson Satio.

Unlike the Satio, this phone has so far proved to have done everything I require from a phone and having had a few bad experiences with a large number of smartphones, it's the sheer simplicity and extremely low likelihood that it will be plagued by software issues, that the Nokia 8310 has become no.1.

Fantastic handset. Nothing else comes close.

Nokia 8310 retro classic

I just wanted to say that this is such an excellent phone but with a couple of faults that hasn't been a problem with my other (a lot older) Nokia phones. I've had my phone for less than a week now, so I guess I shouldn't be judging so early, but I've always had Nokia phones so I think I adjust to them quite quickly. The Bad Points: Really quiet, weird ringtones!!! Most of the good, strong tones have been taken out and replaced with these strange new ones that sound like there is something wrong with the phone. The tones are really soft too, so if you are in a busy place, you'll probably feel it vibrating rather than the actual ring. Also, the buttons are pretty loose. I'm not sure if it's only my phone, but the buttons feel rather insecure as does the cover - it doesn't bother me as the keypad and the covers (which will cost you a little bit) are interchangeable, so it has a less solid feel compared to my older phones. The Good Points: Excellent radio, I thought that it would be really very rubbish, but when you have good reception, sound quality is crystal clear! (heh, I am SO hilariously funny. just nod and ignore me for now) It's sooo small!!!!!!! It's so cute and tiny! The games may be a bit hard to play as the buttons are so small and dainty, but text messaging and dialing isn't too bad. Which brings me to another point, Nokias have good reception always!! There are so many other features that I haven't mentioned, but are useful, (such as calender and calculator, but I've said too much so maybe it's best to stop). Overall, this is a brilliant phone and I hope it doesn't let me down like the some of the other reviews say! If you get a later version of the model (like me) software faults etc shouldn't bother you too much. It's a shame that this product have been discontinued, if it had a colour screen and a camera, this would be the BEST phone!!!Read full review...

Small, Retro, Reliable

This phone will last you a life time, literally!
Its got excellent battery life and if your a texting person,it's easy to use keypad feels comfortable to use.

Just so you don't get bored it comes with a built in FM player, WAP, & 2 built in games. The back light is very bright and easy to use even under direct sunlight.

However, removing SIM card is fiddly, and isn't colour screen. Compared to modern phones it will seem a bit out dated, but for its day it's a fashionable business retro phone, with x-press on covers, GPRS and Infa-Red connectivity.

Here are the general specs
- WAP, GPRS
- 5 line display
- Voice activated dialling
- Predictive text messaging
- 35 ringtones plus 5 customisable ringtones
- Phone memory (500 names and numbers)
- Changeable x-press on covers
- Picture messaging
- Data capability with built-in infra-red modem
- Voice recorder (3 minutes)
- Integrated FM radio
- Games, clock, currency converter
- Size: 97 x 43 x 19 mm
- Weight: 84g
- Battery standby: 100 - 350 hours
- Battery talktime: 2 - 4 hours
- Vibration alert
- Dual band

Best phone

It texts, it calls, it receives texts and it even receives calls! What a phone ought to do... what more can you ask for?

Compact, lightweight and perfectly functional, with a decent sized phone book, a decent predictive text faciility and funky little features like caller groups: allowing different ring tones for different groups of people, say: friends and family. Best of all, with a good ol' BLB-2 battery kept in good nick, it can charge in 1/2 and hour and last a week, what with its simplicity of features and low power-consumptive black and white screen...

The only qualms may be that you can only write one page of text at a time - if youre gonna write an essay you may aswell jus call - nor does it have triband - so its not exactly easy to travel with i.e. you needs buy a local SIM which is just as well really, given the proposterous prices most companies charge for calling n receiving calls whilst abroad.

Lastly if you have a problem with monophonic ringtones you can just set it to 'ring ring'... i mean no need to have bloomin' kyle minogue let alone gangster rap pumping out on the bus everytime someone wants to know where you are. Here's a clue, its called a ring cuz it lets you know when someone is ringing.

Now you may call me a premature old fart but i genuinely dont have enough time in my day to obsess over gadgets and/or videogames on a phone, be it an industry standard worktool of the 21st century or not. So if youre anything like me and dont have a desperate desire to spend your life on facebook on a 400 squid N96, then go for this well endowed ol' banger.

This is truly a no nonsense masterpiece, fulfilling your everyday needs as quickly and efficiently as possible, giving you more time to get on with the important things in life.

Nokia 8310 Review

The Nokia 8310 replaces the very popular 8210. The Nokia 8310 features a more modern stylish look, WAP (GPRS), and the benefit of an integrated FM radio with headset. The infra-red modem enables the Nokia 8310 to easily interface with a laptop for example. The re-modelled facia makes the buttons easier to use than the 8210 which it replaced, and of course the phone looks more modern than the older 8210. It's actually even smaller than the 8210, although a touch heavier. Reliability problems and the fact that this phone is well past its sell-by date in terms of features make this a poor choice nowadays.
