Good Value

Value for Money camera. Internal memory of 2 GB is rarely found in others. It is not only a high resolution camera but also shockproof, weatherproof and waterproof. I have chosen it especially for my son, 5 yrs. old. Not tried yet but purpose was to take underwater, sliding water shots and avoid breaking if the son uses hard.Read full review...

GOOD and maybe excellent ..amateur user..

GOOD and maybe excellent only had this camera a short time so a bit careful in rating..being only a amateur photographer at best :-}
Have used it out of water and it takes very good photos and is very easy to use. The menu once you get used to it is also easy to navigate though ....
However I bought this for underwater use (ONLY SNORKELING 2mtr depth) and was very pleased with the results on both stills and video on the auto settings point and shoot.

this is my first digital underwater camera so I cannot compare it to others However it beats every film one i used before

If I lost it would I buy it again yes would be the answer so I cant say any better than that

Olympus STYLUS TOUGH-8010 14 Mp review.

I bought this camera, as an upgrade to my Olympus Mju 770sw which btw, is an awesome camera in it's own right.
The 8010 goes beyond that.
Super easy menus with "tap" technology to move from menue to menue, or when viewing pics on playback. A nice feature!
Automatic focus tracking with face recognition and image stabilisation, are a big plus over the old camera I had and the system works very well. In the week I've owned the camera, I have yet to take a picture that has any problems such as out of focus or blurred images etc etc.
I've taken on the move shots and long exposure night and low light shots. All have came out perfect.
The 5 times optical zoom is more than suficient for advaced every day use, with the provision for a "fine zoom" giving a little extra magnification which doesn't seem to loose image quality. Plus a further five times digital zoom which does introduce increasing loss of quality, the further it's employed.
The HD video movie mode is exceptional. With super clear video's that will make a person really think about ever buying a camcorder, for day to day footage. One drawback however, is a faint clicking noise during playback on the sound track. But as I say, it's more than pasable and a massive improvement on the 770 movie mode.
I've bought this camera to improve my pictures this year, when on holiday in Florida and I don't believe I will be dissapointed. I will be diving with this camera and if the movies are reproduced as good as the old 770sw, I will be more than satisfied as they will also be in HD.
All in all, I'm so pleased I purchased this camera and with the performance of the seller.

Olympus Tough 8010 digital camera

I bought this camera in April 2010 as an upgrade from a previous Olympus Tough model (1030 SW). The 5x zoom lens and 720p HD movie mode were the main reasons for choosing it rather than the higher image resolution, I want a robust camera to withstand dirt and knocks rather than for use underwater. This camera uses SDHC cards which means no more limitations of 2GB maximum as with the old Olympus xD memory cards. The image quality has proved to be excellent both on photo and movie mode with very clear focus and true to life colour. When using movie mode, the optical zoom works as does autofocus, there is just a tiny sound (barely audible) of the motor operating (previous Olympus cameras locked the zoom and focus when recording which led to poor quality with a moving subject).

There are only three things that I don't really like about this camera.

Firstly that it seems to be very slow to power up, and when it has turned off on power saving mode can take 3-4 seconds to be ready, this delay could mean you miss a photo. If you turn off the power saving mode then the battery does not last long.
Secondly, because the camera does not have any dedicated buttons or mode dial, it is a bit fiddly to change shooting modes or settings such as flash, image size etc. It would also be nice to have some manual controls for focus, shutter etc.
Thirdly, to record a movie you press a button on the back (not the normal shutter button). This has a 2 second delay as the screen changes to widescreen view before starting recording, I found this a bit annoying as it means you miss the first 2 seconds on the recording, also it is hard to hold the camera steady as you press this button again to end the movie.

In conclusion, good camera with superb images/movies, a few annoying features however.

olympus 8010 review

a camera that you can let a child play with without breaking it. photo quality good without one of those annoying pop-out lenses that always breaks when you drop it.

Olympus Mju Tough 8010

I have purchased the camera recently, and haven't had time to try completely yet it in business. Pictures very good, but very much it would be desirable to try shooting under water. The convenient interface, the big screen, 5x zoom super. I am not sorry about the purchasing! I hope the camera will serve to me the term belief and truth, and will please me with excellent shots.Read full review...

Stylus 8010

A camera that looks good and feels solid. I would recommend it to anyone who specifically wants a camera thats slow, heavy, slippery(due to the stainless steel)and takes reasonable pictures on a tripod. I have other cameras that do the same job, much better, for half the price.Read full review...
