High quality, as expected of Ortofon products!

High quality, as expected of Ortofon products. The case is very solidly made so it has some weight to it which is nice because, if your cables are stiff, the unit will stay in place nicely. The ST-7 makes clear improvements to the sound compared to my already nice Yaqin MS-33B phono stage. Initially I had some hum, but then read the instructions and made the proper grounding connections....no more hum! Read the instructions! If you already use an MC phono stage for your Ortofon MC cart, you need to consider this step-up transformer. All MC phono-stages that use FETS instead of transformers for the signal amplification into the 47K ohm RIAA stage have limitations, so this is the best solution if you want better sound from your system.Read full review...

You will hear the difference

If you really care about extracting amplify details from your Cartridges then the Ortofon MC Step Up Transformer ST-7 will not disappoint. I'm an emerging Audio File and I wish I had purchase this a year ago.
Please make sure your Cartridges is a perfect match with the Ortofon MC Step Up Transformer ST-7.
Moreover, Having a good phone stage helps and once you include the Ortofon MC Step Up Transformer ST-7, Holy cow! You will hear the difference in amplification, details, and sound stage.
Most likely one will call out sick from work more often to enjoy their stereo system at home.

exceeded high expectations

Not only has the ST-7 lived up to my (admittedly high) expectations, it exceeded them! To say I hear improvement is a gross understatement. MoFi Ultradeck fitted with an Ortofon Quintet Black MC cart routed into the ST-7 then moved to the internal 'MM' Phono Section of my Mc C-52, the result is absolutely transforming. Everything is better, and I mean everything - lows, mids, highs, detail, scale... all notably elevated. Sounds like I dropped $10K+ into my system, and for just a few hundred bucks. Bravo, Ortofon, bravo. Read full review...

Very neutral step-up transformer; doesn't color the sound in any way. Just what you want.

Perfect product if you know how to match with cartridge!

Excellent match with my Goldring Eroica LX. No hum, quiet absolutely. Pops and clicks from vinyl with ST-7 is less audible - nice. Music is flowing very natural and with well balanced tonality. Highly recommended!Read full review...
