Over the hedge,Not over the top!

Over the Hedge is another movie in a long line of movies following suit behind pixar's sucess in animation. But where to meny of the knock off movies fail Over the Hedge pulls it off..

The basic idea here is that we have a band of forest animals living in what little forest there is left in the middle of a housing development. Add a loner Raccoon that turns there little world upside down with the discovery that humans have all the food they could ever need and it's easy picking..
The problem is that they believe they are storing food for the winter, When in fact they are stealing food for a large angry bear.

This movie has fun and a lesson all wrapped up into one.. You have Steve Carell voicing an insane but cute lil squrell who moves the film along nicely with alot of laughs.Then you have The Raccoon voiced by Bruce Willis who shows people/raccoons can change.

I enjoyed this movie alot as did the kids who I watched it with...It had alot of good interesting plot to keep you and the Kids watching hoping for the best.

The animation was only ok.. If you are a sucker for great animation then stick to pixars stuff.
If you can look past so so animation for a good fun movie then I'd say this one has got what it takes to make the whole family happy..
and who dosen't love talking animals..

This one is honestly worth watching just for The Crazy Squrell..Trust me.

A good story line .....

although i personaly didnt like this movie, i will recommend it as i can see its something many will enjoy.
it was the casting that didnt really work for me, id like to see more of the actors personality in the role, otherwise it just seemed like voices.
its a movie about a racoon who gets greedy and caught stelling from a bear (a wagon full of stock which is destroyed in an attempt to get it back) and now the bear gives him a chance to get everything back so the racoon meets some hording animals and a whole neighborhood has been built around them so they are disoriented (starting with not understanding the hedge) so he decides to use them to teach them the ropes of how to steal from people in an attempt to steal it all from them in the end.....
something else i didnt like was how some of the jokes in this movie have been done before, for example, giving the squirel coffee was done in the movie hoodwinked, its not funny to see it reused again and the exact same way.
regardless its a cute movie, i recommend watching it, i can see this to be a movie the whole family can enjoy together.Read full review...

Funny Story with good lesson

Over the Hedge is a cute tale of your everyday critters learning the lessons of domesticated life. RJ the racoon has a run in with a bear whos food he tries to steal, he is forced to trick a bunch of 'hibernators' into helping him collect enough food for the winter (the food is really for the bear). Along the way he teaches the hibernators the way of domesticated scrap eating animals and where to find the best human foods. Despite some trouble with exterminator and a crazy house wife the hibernators teach RJ what real friends do for each other and other lessons of friendship!

Rental Quality Movie Kids Thought it was "PRETTY GOOD"

Missed this one at the theater so the kids were really excited when we were able to rent it.

And I am glad that I did not purchase because, although the animated graphics were amazing, compared to the cartoon movies in my childhood, the kids were not engrossed in this movies like they were in movies like Finding Nemo or the Incredibles.

The story line is of a fast talking theif Racoon who owes a large Bear his food which he had stolen and lost. He meets up with a bunch of close knit wild animals that are starving because thier habitat is being over run with a new housing development.

Cute story, Great Graphics, Funny Moments, Lags in some areas, I give it a 4 star out of 5.

Excellent Family Movie - Over the Hedge

Over the Hedge is a wonderful Family movie. Not only is it great for families to watch together, it is about a family of cute and very different animals. They all pull together for the whole. When RJ the Raccoon enters the scene, he is ready to exploit this family for his own needs (replacing the huge load of food he stole from a very angry bear). Verne the box turtle is the Patriarch of the family and keeps warning family members that RJ is not what he seems and that he is using them. Unfortunately, they don't want to believe Verne and embrace RJ and his methods for gathering (foraging) food. He introduces them to human food (junk food) and they are immediately hooked. In the end, RJ comes clean and helps the family get out of the mess that he brought down upon them and is welcomed to become part of the family. This is a great movie for promoting family values, blended families and diversity. The characters voices are done by a wonderful group of actors each of whom embraced their character and did a wonderful job of making these animals believable (Bruce Willis, Gary Shandling, Eugene Levy, Avril Livigne, William Shatner and more). The music for this movie is also excellent and you will find yourself singing along. This is my all time favorite animated movie.Read full review...

My daughter loves this movie.We had it years ago when it came out and played it till we wore it out so glad we came across it again on eBay.

OVER THE HEDGE (2006 DVD) PG

OVER THE HEDGE is below average! Save your money and rent it. It is a "cute" storyline however, Dreamworks fell short on this one and should of titled it UNDER THE HEDGE. Some of the animation was great, but the flat stationary background was just that flat without depth. The animal characters are "cute" and the voice overs by the actors were very nice and seems to go with their animated characters personas.
I enjoy a really good animated feature film for the entire family, but again I don't think this is it. This film did not keep my attention and I would caution parents of very young children (pre-school age) about the scary bear in the begining of the film. Not a complete waste of time: Over The Hedge

Well, I have to admit that this is not one of the animations we used to wait for. After the Monsters Inc., Shreks, and Nemo, it seems like they started to produce animations just for the heck of it.r>This movie has some clever jokes in it but it didn't make me feel like I had to had to have it in my collection.
Although these movies are supposed to be for kids, it starts with a scary Bear scene and I am not sure if this is the best thing for kids to see.Read full review...

Over the Hedge

I've been reading the Over the Hedge comic strip in the Sunday Funnies for some time. I really enjoy the Hedge's creators take on wildlife and it's suburbination. I could just imagine the characters voices and personalities as they interacted and went through their adventures. Now granted that those who create movies are allowed some artistic lease. But, all I can say is they nailed it right on the head with this movie. I was hilarious. I have no complaints. They did a great job. I am glad I finally own a copy.
