Palm VIIx PDA

Ever since picking this up, I have used it continuously for months, needing it for my crazy work schedule. This thing easily keeps track of schedules, allows me to take notes, and write down song lyrics and always have that handy caluclator we all need to use from time to time and never have on us! I have yet to run out of memory on it for schedules and notes. The battery lasts quite a while, with 2 convenient slots for AAA batteries, No Special Battery needed! I used Rechargables on mine and loved it. The Hotsync cradle attaches to a serial port on your computer, I never really had to use mine as I had no need to transport data to my computer, but it can be really useful to someone who takes a lot more notes than I do. This device would be great for a person with a crazy schedule or college student! It may be old technology now, but it sure is technology that continues to prove itself useful despite it's age!Read full review...

Palm vii / viix

This is one of the best palm pilots ever made. DO NOT BUY THE NEWER M SERIES ONES, THEY WILL BREAK AND GIVE DIGITIZER PROBLEMS!!!! The older III and VII series pda's are rock solid and will give you years of trouble free operation. Get some screen protectors, some rechargable AAA NIMH batteries and you are set for years to come. Also, place a smudge of oil on the contacts where it seats in the cradle every month or so, and I guarantee you that there is a good chance that this pda will outlive you! This thing is damn good at what it does - organize your life. It's great for me, cause I have big hands, and the screen is big enough to easily read text, not like the newer palm's which are like toys.
The only down side, which isn't even an issue for me, is that it's a little big and heavy to try and keep in your shirt pocket during the day. Otherwize, I love these things and cannot imagine life without them. I've even bought a spare one for the years to come :)

Palm VIIx

The Palm VIIx is a great unit for basic tasks. The screen size is well suited for ebook reading, and there are tons of ebooks available in palm reader format.

The Palm NET services were discontinued a few years ago, and it would be nice if ebay would include that information in the auto-generated item descriptions, but the units function perfectly well as a standard Palm (like the Palm III, with extended memory)

Battery life is great! A pair of AAA batteries will hold up for at least a month, and not having to carry a charger around is always a plus.

bought this just to compare head to head with Dell Axim

after a brief try-out , , , Dell Axim is found to be far superior to Palm V IIx in every way I can think of - screen viewing , text transcriber , audio recording , video playback memory capacity , memory retention while changing battery , low light viewing , word processing Read full review...

Palm VIIx

I bought the Palm VIIx several months ago. It was a chance for me to see how I can simplify my life with a PDA. So far it has helped a lot keeping up with dates and memos. It actually keeps me on schedule for a change. Overall it is a good product, I just have one complaint about the sylist pen, used to write on the screen. It is hard to keep up with the pen because it keeps dropping out of it's slot. Other than that it was a grea purchase.Read full review...

My second VIIx

I bought my first Palm VIIx a few years back, in 2002. I used it until it almost literally fell apart (not due to bad construction, but mostly to rough handling and demanding use). I then bought an iPaq, and though I like it as well, its battery life is abysmal compared to the VIIx's. The computer software that came with the iPaq is basically useless too.

I found another VIIx on eBay recently and immediately snapped it up. I like the VIIx for its simplicity of use, long battery life and ease of synching with the very useful Palm computer software.

So, I'm giving the iPaq to my son, and I'm going back to the VIIx!

Palm VIIx

I bought the Palm VIIx to fill the void left by an earlier Palm III. While it is as useful it has some features which enhance it, but it lacks the rechargeable battery of the Palm III. Otherwise it performs all the functions for which I bought it quite well.Read full review...
