This is an excellent TV value well worth the cost.

This TV provides an excellent picture. I got the plasma set so I could mount it pretty high on a wall and view it from any angle. My setup works. Another reason I bought this TV is I needed newer connectivity technology. The set I am replacing had no HDMI connection, a major limitation these days. One more reason - I got back a LOT of floor space in my living room as this set replaces a huge rear-projection set.
The TV tuner is often neglected in reviews so I'm going to say that the tuner is very good - it pulled in all the available on-air stations in my area, unlike another set I bought which only got half of them. The only thing I don't like is I can't find any way to display the programming information for the channel I'm viewing. What I mean is there is no display showing what program is up next. I know the info is available in the broadcast so the limitation on displaying the info is with this TV.
There are adequate connections for your peripherals though if you are ready to move into the world of current technology you will get a Blu-Ray player, home theater receiver and a couple of HDMI cables to hook them up. It is really cool that I have only three wires running to this TV - the power cord, a single HDMI cable and the coaxial cable for the TV antenna. This is so much better than anything I've ever had before (which was a maze of wires) that this new clean wiring setup makes this TV worth having. Of course this is a feature most new TVs offer these days so is not unique to this set.
Note that the single HDMI cable handles input AND output of video and audio signals to and from the TV. The onboard TV speakers are adequate but don't expect them to do justice to your DVDs and Blu-rays. I'd only use them for watching TV shows and would have reservations about relying on them for cable/satellite shows, though I have neither and could not test this. These days you really need a seperate sound system to get the most out of your entertainment media.
There is an Ethernet connection on the TV so you can connect to your home network. I haven't tried it yet as my Blu-Ray player has built-in Wi-Fi and can output to the TV. A Wi-Fi adapter is available for the TV seperately if wanted.
