Still a great camera.

The Panasonic Lumix GH5 is still nearly unmatched by more recent designs. It's packed with features and superior bit depths and log capabilities. A great match to other Panasonic cameras like the EVA1 or Varicams, it makes a terrific b-camera. The only downside is the micro 4/3 sensor size, which means that you need to either invest in native lenses (there are several), or get a speedbooster adapter for use with your EF lenses. The Viltrox speedbooster is a very capable unit for modern lenses, and 1/3 the price of the genuine Metabones speedbooster. However, only the genuine Metabones unit will work with vintage adapted stills lenses.

Full-frame mirrorless cameras are the latest darlings, but this camera still holds up.

Great camera!

The GH5s is a great camera. My GH5s is a used camera but everything is checking out well. Looking forward to using the camera for video, as well as still, photography. My Panasonic lenses work perfectly with this camera. The optical image stabilization is in the lens as there is no stabilization in the camera body...stabilization switch on lens will set the icon on the LCD display. No IBIS was done to offer a new/larger image sensor. The controls are in the same places as my G6/G7 cameras. The display/recall button is now in the upper left-side of the LCD by the LVF button. Menus seem almost identical to G6/G7 cameras but have mounds of more features/settings. Especially looking forward to trying out all the various video settings. I miss a strobe on the camera but there is a hot-shoe if one is needed. I especially like the mini-joystick...and along with the quad-button and rotary dials, makes for easily setting functions on the camera. The camera is barely heavier than my G7. The batteries are different than for the G6/G7 also. I'm still reading the manual...much to read about...and watching videos. Just might pick up another GH5s!!Read full review

Excellent video camera

When it came out a lot of people were pissed that they remove camera stabilization. It was a trade off for the slightly larger sensor. BUT this is a serious video camera that takes ok still. If you want it for run and gun and logging get the non S. But if you want the best (by far) MFT video camera get the S. It has everything that my much more expensive high end video cameras do, incredible format choices, tools like wave form, vector scopes, histograms, line, mic and phantom powered audio, 14 stops of dynamic range in the included VLOG profiles, a lot of built in profiles and much more. The most impressive thing is slow motion in 4k that looks very good. The 240 fps in HD is pretty incredible too. I fly it on a Ronin S, perfect match especially with the flip out screen. Video forward micro 4/3 camera with 2 to 3 stops more than the GH5

Designed for video, this GH5S camera has built in vLog, dual native iso, and picks up 2 to 3 stops more light than the GH5. Perfect for my use in shooting 20 to 45 second product review videos.

GH5s trade off is worth it for some

I have the standard GH5 already so was familiar with the many options. This model has better low light performance with the sacrifice of image stabilization. So, better use a tripod or gimbal, but the results are great.Read full review

Great low light solution

Compared to G9 or GH5, the low light performance is MUCH better. Very low graininess at 6400ISO where the others are not useable above 1600 even with DxO. Don't like that the angle can't be adjusted continuously, it jumps from 180 to 172, can't go to 179, for example. Haven't tested it in moving situation yet but I expect the absence of IS will be an issue for run-and-gun.Read full review

A low light beast

A camera with great dynamic range and ability to shoot clean video up to iso 6400 (usable to iso 10,000).
