Great affordable entry level prime lens

I bought this lens mainly for portrait shots where I need bright and affordable lens. The lens performs great. fast focusing and very sharp. It's wide aperture allows me to shoot decent portrait shots even in low light situations. Focusing is great and always on the spot. Compact form factor matches great with my K-r. Hard to say how it compares to other products since I haven't used other 50mm lenses but this is definitely a great prime lens for its price.Read full review...

Good but Focussing Isn't Easy

Great sharp lens, when it's in focus. Manual focus is a challenge.

Very difficult to Auto Focus on a Pentax K-7. It eventually gets there with a lot of whirring back and forth until the camera finally finds an optimal focus and then releases the shutter.

Otherwise,a typically well built Pentax lens

FAntastic lens

This was a little more expensive than my budget could afford for a 50mm f1.4 however, the picture quality is exceptionally clear, and the auto focus is great also. I'm now happy that I didn't go with a slower lens at a cheaper price.Read full review...

Yes, loving this lens, I got it because I'd had one just the same many years ago, but whilst on a trip to China my camera with the lens attached were stolen from me a Tianjin Railway Station. I had used a different camera and lens for many years but it could never match the joy of using this one and the results it gives.Read full review...
