Amazing line variation!
Prior to purchasing this pen, I could only produce this amount of line variation with my vintage pens, or with a Zebra G nib. This seems to be the best of both worlds—convenience of a modern fountain pen with the line variation of a vintage or dip pen. This nib is positively wonderful.Read full review...

Skips, railroads, hard starts.
I was pretty excited to try this pen. My particular sample railroads pretty easily. I find that I hardly use it. Unfortunately, quick strokes skip, hard starts, etc. Using a Pilot Namiki black cartridge. Thinner ink might be better...but yeah, not worth the money. When it works it's the closest thing to an ink pencil because of the dynamic line variation. But the skipping, hard starts and railroading interrupt the flow of writing and drawing. A lot of people spend extra money on a 3rd party feed, which I may have to do, making this pen needlessly expensive. The body is really generic, so I guess you're paying for the nib...?Read full review...

Pilot/Namiki Custom Heritage 912 w/FA nib is a good pen to have (if it fits your use)
recommended, yes, with reservation: as others online have reported, the FA nib of the Custom Heritage 912 pen needs an ebonite feed, which is a simple inexpensive fix, otherwise, when flexing, the nib with get starved of ink and either not lay any ink down or will railroad.
AS for being a good value, I suppose: it's not a Pilot 823 or 743, it has a 14 ct #10 nib which is smaller than a #15 nib (743/823) but larger than a #5 found on pens like the 742 I believe. I think the pen is comfortable, writes well and were it not for this particular type of nib (flex) would have been just fine out of the box.Read full review...

Great......but
Note: fantastic, high quality pen..,.,,But.....I purchased a separate plastic feed from a special nib manufacturer in Texas. Many on YT said this greatly improved ink flow. Original stock feed caused problems......all fixed with a simple feeder swap out. I wish Pilot would include these triple feed systems in their 912s. Read full review...

A stylish and well made pen offering pleasing flexibility
The pen is solidly built and has a classic style. It wrote straight out of the box and I have not experienced any hard starts or rail-roading since. I would say the nib flexes from a European extra fine to a broad.Read full review...

Falcon nib for the win.
This is my first ever nib with any sort of flex and I've been enjoying it. The feed has a hard time keeping up with drier nibs, but once replaced with an ebonite feed it's perfect.

Great fun pen
Great soft writer (softer than the larger #15 FA nib) with a little feedback (no scratchiness). No hard starts or any other issue.
