Expensive, but well designed. OEM Parts!

This is an expensive kit. Everything about Polaris is expensive. The kit was every piece of the machine except the main body and one tube. If you don't know why your Polaris isn't working, this kit will fix it. It's easy to use, just a phillips screwdriver and you can change everything. If this doesn't fix your problem then it's either the pump or the "acorn".

This "REBUILD Kit" is more expensive than the "tune up" kit, but it has a lot more parts, even a new body. Your Polaris will look and act brand new after this.

It is expensive, but your Polaris will be all new and should work for a few years after you change the parts.

by TOP CRITICAL REVIEW

I'm watching it...

It's the best of the in-ground vacuums, but that danged water line has a memory and the vacuum won't run for more than 15" before the tubing is coiled...limiting the range of cleaning. So...you've got to haul in the vacuum, straighten the line and start over. Maybe if I store it with the line straight for a while it'll be less likely to coil. It's also over priced.Read full review

Takes a licking and keeps on ticking

This is the 4th 280 we have owned. When we purchased our house with the pool it had a Pentair Legend 4-wheel cleaner. The pool has steps on one end and a raised level with bar stools on the other. The Pentair was continually getting stuck trying to navigate around the bar stools. When it was time to replace it I got the Polaris 280. It does a better job maneuvering around the bar stools, however the length of the hose affects its performance; to short and the hose snags on the top of the stools; to long and the 280 will occasionally tie the hose in a knot where it comes out of the pool wall. The 280 does a respectable job on the steps, but the bottom of the cleaner does drag on the edges of the steps and sometimes gets hung until the backup valve kicks in. However, I haven't read of another cleaner that does any better. In Texas our pool and cleaner runs all year so when the 280 doesn't appear to be moving properly or is slow moving around the pool I order a tune-up kit. For less than half the price of a new 280 this kit replaces all the wheels and moving parts and in effect you have an almost new cleaner...also much cheaper than having the pool store rebuild your cleaner. I also highly recommend the tail sweep pro for the end of the tail sweep, unless you don't mind getting sprayed or having it spray pool water on your windows.Read full review

Super buy

I obtained a Polaris F5 to replace my 280 at roughly half off list price. This unit was described as used or rebuilt and came with a full mfg. Warr. I found this offer too good a deal to pass up. I purchased it expecting a machine with some wear. But to my delight I could discover no user wear after inspection upon arrival. I placed it into my dirty pool for immediate duty. Some shock and several hours of sweeps yielded a clean pool and packed filter bag. Thx eBay 👍Read full review

Excellent Product!

I have owned a polaris 280 for 18 years and repaired it many times. Parts are easy to come by and it works good. I recently replastered my pool and replaced my old 280 with this new one. I forgot how good it works! I really like the new inline screen filter in the hose where you can see it. It used to be in the wall, and hard to clean.Read full review

POLARIS 280

Bought to replace a 280 that came with the pool 12 years ago. One can tell it is a big improvement over my old one. New tube line makes a big difference. Still adjusting unit to work well in my pool but adjustments are easy.
Great discount on price,......Scrubbers I think make a good difference in performance.
Shipping was timely and professional.
Would recommend as a purchase to anyone in the market for a pool cleaner. Remember, you need a separate pump to operate the 280.

Best $$ spent in a long time.

After kit arrived, I read instructions and disassembled unit and cleaned parts that was to be reused. Installed new parts per instructions. Two to three hours later I had rebuilt it and now it works like New. What a time saver this thing is.
The box came with the factory seal on box(Delivery person left it by the back gate in the rain...oh well everything else was great). The kit had everything needed for the job (I did use a little silicon grease on sliding parts). It wasn't required, but it should help if the need to take apart comes up.
Thanks for offering this at a reasonable price.

Polaris 280 Cleans The Pool Everyday And Never Complains!

Had one of these before and it worked wonderfully for 13 years Tried a different brand, two iterations, and was as disappointed. Found this one after searching high and low and very happy again - so is our pool.Read full review

Replacing my existing Polaris 280 after 12 years

Replaced a few parts over the years on the old one but always worked great. Instead of repairing the old one I just got a new one figured it was time. It was already assembled and ready to hook up when I received it. Cleans the pool really well and easy to take care of.Read full review

Easy and effective pool cleaner

The original "Roomba" for your pool - it really sucks. I toss this thing in our open outdoor in-ground pool for an hour or so, and it takes out everything on the bottom. Well, most everything. It will not vacuum-up drown chipmunks, squirrels, gophers, raccoons, opossums, woodchucks, or other wayward critters that demonstrate their failure to swim and/or extricate themselves and end up as obstacles to the Polaris at the bottom of the pool. I've observed salamanders, snakes, and turtles work to avoid contact with the Polaris 280, and they all tend to do just fine after removal with a net. Some of the smaller rodents (moles and shrews, notably) will be gobbled-up, as will nearly all insects, leaves, grass clippings, pocket change, hearing aids, band aids, pebbles, jewelry and related objects that inevitably make their way to the bottom of your pool.Read full review

Great alternative to a new unit!

This kit basically rebuilds the entire Polaris 280. The only part you keep is the inner frame and some of the screws. After the rebuild, your cleaner is basically brand new again for about half the cost of a new one! This is highly recommended for anybody who doesn’t mind spending 30 minutes to take part and reassemble your cleaner.Read full review
