Powermaster XS Torque Starter

I bought it for my 1965 Buick Skylark Convertible that has a 300 cubic inch 4.9 Liter engine.
The original Delco oem starter is approximately 30 lbs. , while this one is 8.5.lbs. and much
smaller in size. The smaller size minimizes the amount of heat radiated from the exhaust manifolds The powermaster XS torque starter cranks the engine at a faster rate and with ease. I had used a Power Master starter on my 1969 Pontiac GTO with a 400 cubic inch engine
12 years ago, and the results were impressive and the reliability extensive.

Great product and support

This exactly what I needed a high torque starter for a Buick 400 with headers. I called the manufacturer and they told me this stater was made specifically for a vehicle with headers they could not have been nicer to deal with. It fits and cranks an 11:1 motor over no problem. I have other starters and this motor just chewed them up. This thing appears to be very well made and I could not be happier with this purchase.Read full review...

Nice product for the price

Great product for the money. It takes up a lot less space and is very powerful. It is also a good fit. I would recommend this product.

I was scared of buying one of these because of how it looks. I was right. I had to notch the oil pan lip with a death wheel and hammer it up to get 1/8 of an inch of clearance from the main positive battery cable. Could you put the electrical connections on the other side? That being said I made it work. Replaced a 30 pound dog of a starter on a 70 Cadillac Deville with a 472 with 10:1 compression and it cranks over at double speed! Success. Now I just have to extend my + cable.Read full review...

Powe master for big block caddy

I needed a strong, not stock starter for my 484 cube big block caddy. The 11 tooth pinion works well with my 166 tooth flexplate. Spins effortlessly even with cold 50 weight oil and high compression.

check assembly of starter before mounting

Some one at the factory put the mounting block on upside down and i cracked off my starter mount off my block. In other words the curved edge was down instead of up.

Power master mini starter

Nice starter, much more compact & lighter than the OEM, but still spins the engine faster with a quicker start!
