Tired boom arm ?

I am involved with an Open Mic night and we are tired of singers adjusting the height of the boom arm, without loosening the fixture, hence stripping threads etc and wrecking the whole thing. Microphone/light gooseneck

I am sure it would be fine for it's purpose as a microphone stem, but I have used it to mount a work light that I can position as I require. I am very happy with this product.
