Expensive but worth it, well made, only a couple of minor flaws
This product works very well and is much better made than the cheap phone mounts. The phone is held securely. My only comments are:
- You need to use two hands to attach/detach the phone
- When attached, the phone is held tightly by the "x-grip" arms. However the whole phone+arms together can still be twisted clockwise or counterclockwise +/- 20 degrees. This does not bother me but might be a problem for you.
- Sometimes on a very hot day (40 degrees C or more) the suction cap has fallen off the windscreen, this is probably due to the hot air expanding under the suction cap so would probably happen to any other suction cap product

Ram phone mount.
The ram mount is probably the best mount I have ever used for securing my phone have travelled some of the toughest roads in Qld far north and it has never let me down.

Sturdy, Robust - Best phone holder on the market
I have been through many phone holders from different manufacturers over the years and all kept on falling off the windscreen with very poor suction, or unlocked when running over bumps in the road. Having had a RAM for my handheld SATNAV for over 5 years, that led me to buy a RAM phone holder and this has been the best investment ever! Apart from tether - an excellent product
Overall a good product - have some doubts about using the rubber tether - not a good fit to the thuraya xt-lite - to remove phone from cradle to answer a call looks a bit messy with the tether in place - will reserve judgment till in that situation.Read full review

The suction cup and articulated arm on this unit is an excellent design. it is straight forward to use and presents itself to be robust with a long life. For what it is, it is overpriced. I purchased for $99, but I believe the pricing should be around $60. Read full review
