Great sound!

The tone with this barrel is great, unlike the sound I get with a certain plastic tuneable barrel I also have. This RS Berkeley Freedom also goes a bit shorter than my other barrel. Very nice!

good but not perfect

What works is it does the adjustment piece well.

What is strange is the diameters of the bores are too small, I had to lathe .07 out of the inside diameter to fit on my buffet r13. its definitely too tight.

What is bad is the rattly joint at the thread . it makes playing the clarinet difficult especially when playing the top A key , it hammers your teeth , not fun.

It needs to be guided so there is no rattle , with all that said it does what it is meant to do , which is shorten up .

its a life saver when the clarinet is cold and you have to be in tune, like when doubling at a show . so its good but it could be perfect .

Very well engineered, silent adjustment - fits Selmer and Buffet!

This barrel has a deep enough lower receiver that it works on both Buffet (18mm) and Selmer (19mm) upper tenons. After picking up a large chamber clarinet piece for some Big Band Jazz work I was looking for something to replace my older clicky adjustable barrel which I was concerned was wearing out after the over two decades I've used it.

This is made out of metal which is probably not going to present the warmest sound you could get (not a problem for my use case) and it appears to be very solidly built and the fact that it is dead silent when adjusting it is a huge plus. It also will not go out of adjustment by accidentally bumping it like the clicky kind can, it simply won't change unless you purposely rotate the tuning ring.

The ring itself is the only part that rotates, the bottom and top receiver are fixed in place so this also does not rotate your mouthpiece at all if you adjust the ring in the center.

I would confidently use this for indoor or outdoor work

Adjustable Clarinet Barrel

I have found this product to be very good. I can adjust the tuning of my instrument gradually without leaving a gap in the bore and it doesn't slide back in again when you don't want it to like an ordinary barrel.
I am a professionally trained musician and have played and taught the clarinet all my life.

Does what it says

This barrel not only corrects "out-of-tune" notes but I swear the overall tone is sweeter. A bit pricey but for what it does it is worth the money.
