Rain and Sunshine

This moving tale is particularly relevant because it involves two unknown brothers who find each other. The acting is superb and is one of Dustin Hoffman's greatest roles. His character is so convincing and straightforward. The plot is full of irony and has an inherited three million dollar fortune to provide motivation for Hoffman's brother. The film keeps your interest and you want to know just how they can cope with the real world. This is a film that you will want to watch more than once to capture the significance of the story and appreciate it as a work of art.Read full review...

A Great Movie that can help people understand about Autism

This movie is a very touching movie... especially for those with a loved one with Autism. I myself have Autism, and understand what this man "Rayman" is going through. It can teach loved one and friends who know a person/are related to somebody with Autism many things about the disorder. In this movie, however, "Rayman" is a very gifted and talented man with Autism. It shows how he and his brother struggle with day to day things that can occur with the handicap. I do recommend this movie, especially for any family with a loved one with Autism. I also recommend this DVD for young adults and adults with Autism! I rated this movie a 4 out of 5! This movie also has a lot of sad parts in it, for those of you who are wondering!Read full review...

Definitely a MUST see! Every scene is embedded with great story line.

Excellent movie from award winning actors about a realistic view of autism as it affects the lives of loved ones. An engaging movie that follows a great story line with never a dull moment. Worth watching multiple times to pick up on all of the notable lines from the writer. For instance, at the beginning of the movie, Charlie Babbit (Tom Cruise) uses the word "definitely" a lot and you hear Raymond (Dustin Hoffman) use that word throughout the movie, helping to make yet another connection of their family similarity.Read full review...

**---** AN AWESOME MOVIE!! A++!! A CLASSIC!! **---**

RAIN MAN is AN AWESOME FILM!! It is an older film(80's) that has been digitally remastered on DVD. We have loved this movie since it was first introduced, back in the day. Dustin Hoffman plays an Autistic Adult, and Tom Cruise plays his long lost brother, whom he never knew existed. The come together at a time when their father passes. At first their relationship is quite distant and unknown, with Cruise having other intentions. Once they begin to spend a day or two togther, their emotions grow on each other, and they develope a long-lost bond. Dustin Hoffman and Tom Cruise PLAY EXCEPTIONAL PARTS, as well as other great faces which make this movie come together. AN EXCELLENT FILM!!! A LOT OF ACTION, VERY VERY INTERESTING, VERY WELL WRITTEN, A MUST SEE!! Also, all of the music fits very well into the movie, making it memorable.

Rent It or Buy It? If you havent seen it, BUY IT!!
Most of us that have seen it, own it! Its a CLASSIC you'll be sure to watch over and over!

Our Overall Rating: 10/10 WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!!

We hope that you found this Review helpful! Thanks for shopping eBay!!

Out of the mouths of babes .....

Dustin Hoffman and Tom Cruise combine in a moving redemption drama that raises a host of questions about the nature of loyalty and love. Opening scenes show Charlie Babbitt (Tom Cruise) to be an unprincipled hustler without either quality. As the film unrolls, the seeds of both are planted and his self-interest and self-absorption turn to something more charitable. Greed and a desire for confrontation are supplanted by an altruistic spirit, a desire to protect and, for want of a longer word, by love.

Motive and goals, loyalty and love, dispassion and engagement are examined in different situations from the bedroom to the casino. Hoffman gives a remarkable performance as an idiot savant; Tom Cruise plays Tom Cruise; Maria Colino plays a tough but sympathetic role as Charlie Babbitt's girlfriend. Music by Hans Zimmer is predictably excellent; the hand of Barry Levinson is firmly in control. A great film to own and to revisit.

Based on Tom Cruise’s characters faint recollection of someone to comfort him as a child

My older son is a 28-year-old high functioning autistic and while no two autistics are exactly alike I do believe this is a very good depiction of one type of autistic. The struggle portrayed from Tom Cruise to try to first tolerate then understand and then embrace his brother I believe runs the full gamut of emotions. I was impressed to learn that both Dustin Hoffman and Tom Cruise spent a lot of time around autistics in preparation of their roles Read full review...

4 Oscars!!!! Drama Film - excellent.....

This film won 4 Oscars - Best Picture/Screenplay/Director/Leading Actor. It stars Tom Cruise and Dustin Hoffman who won the Oscar for his excellent portrayal of the autistic savant older brother. Tom does a wonderful job of playing the abrasive, selfish, bitter, yuppie younger brother. In fact, he played his role so well that the critics and everybody else hated him. It should be remembered that without the dynamics between the younger brother and the father there would not be a story. This movie has many layers...Read full review...

Great movie about a man with autism meeting his brother and developing a relationship

I work in the field with people who have autism. The actor play this role perfectly! We recently moved to the area where the movie was filmed and that interested us too. The movie covered so much including Tom Cruise learning about his brother and developing a relationship with him as well as learning about autism. Such a perfect movie!Read full review...

Rain Man (DVD, 2004, Special Edition)

Charles Sanford "Charlie" Babbit is a self-centered Los Angeles-based automobile dealer/hustler/bookie who is at war with his own life. Charlie, as a young teenager, used his father's 1948 Buick convertible without permission and as a result, he went to jail for two days on account that his father reported it stolen. It is then that Charlie learns that his estranged father died and left him from his last will and testament a huge bed of roses and the car while the remainder will of $3 Million goes into a trust fund to be distributed to someone. Charlie seemed pretty angry by this and decides to look into this matter. It seems as if that someone is Raymond, Charlie's unknown brother, an autistic savant who lives in a world of his own, resides at the Walbrook Institute. Charlie then kidnaps Raymond and decides to take him on a lust for life trip to the west coast as a threat to get the $3 Million inheritance. Raymond's acts and nagging, including repeated talks of "Abbott & Costello", "Four minutes till Wapner" and refusal to fly on an airline except Quantas drives Charlie insane, and out of his selfish world into a cross-country trek of pure love and understanding that these two both have. Dustin Hoffman's performance as Raymond Babbitt is, bar none in this movie. Trying to put the reason that "Rain Man" is so great into words is simply impossible. It's got everything. Watch it, enjoy it.Read full review...
