Pete Seeger's Rainbow Quest

i bought this for the Doc Watson and Stanley Bros. footage.the Cousin Emmy footage is mostly her playing clawhammer banjo and a little comedy thrown in.not really my thing ,but for hardcore fans of folk/bluegrass/etc...this is a MUST HAVE....this is the earliest(and only as far as i know)footage of the Stanley Brothers(filmed shortly before Carter's untimely death).Another reason this is such a great dvd is,because as a folk musician myself,it has been a valuable tool for figuring out how to play some of the tunes(especially Doc Watson on "St James Infirmary").this is also the earliest archival footage of Doc Watson that i know of...buy it...it will not disappoint...Read full review...

Doc Watson Fan

What a great dvd!! I love Pete Seeger's easy going, down home attitude and selection of musicians. Doc Watson, Fred and Clint are wonderful. A little Cousin Emmy goes a long way but I will probably watch this half of the dvd from time to time. This is my 4th copy of Pete Seeger's Rainbow Quest series and will probably buy the remaining 2 as well. It's great music. If you like country
this dvd is worth having.

Doc & The Stanleys

This is a wonderful glimpse of the Stanley Brothers at the height of their skills. Any chance to see and hear Doc Watson is to be taken without reservation. No fancy sets, skits or clevrely written repartee'. The musicians just showed up and played. Pete Seeger joined in for the fun when appropriate (with Doc) and otherwise just stayed out of the way and helped move the show along. A very enjoyable DVD.Read full review...
