Looking for a Good Self Study Japanese-English Dictionary

Even though the copyright is 1998, the Random House Dictionary has Katakana, Hiragana and Kangi with Romanji spellings to help you out. I got it for self study to use with the Genki 1 with Workbook and "Japanese in Mangaland" Series as well as "Practice Makes Perfect" Series on Japanese by McGraw Hill. Just reading the Dictionary is giving me good grounding in sentence structure and verb tense. I bought this dictionary because it came well recommended from multiple sources. I was definately not disappointed. It's really easy to use, will usually give multiple equivalents, it often gives common uses of the words and it has the Japanese characters in the translation. The translations of course go from Romaji to English and English to Romaji so if you're looking for an actual Japenese character that you cannot get close to spelling in Romanized letters, this book will not help.Read full review...
