easy fix
The battery replacement is "plug and play". iPod case comes apart relatively easily, battery comes out, new one goes in. Presto. Takes a charge or two to reach capacity, kind of like most any battery. The tool that came with was pretty much useless but it made no difference at the end of the day.Read full review...

4th Gen classic replacement battery
I have had quite a few of these INSTEN replacement batteries. They are a VERY tight fit into the battery space of 4th generation classic ipods. The battery wires have to go out at 90 degrees right which is right into a very tight spot. 99% of the time the black wire in particular falls off rendering your brand new battery useless.
I end up soldering the connecting wires back on which in all fairness you shouldnt have to do. All that is required is for the wiring to be manufactured to exit the battery at the top but not directly up but out to the right. Also would help if the battery pack was 1 to 2 mm shorter in length as per the 'original' batteries fitted.Read full review...
