Don't cheap out on a MIDI Controller

I bought this specifically to drive my MT-32 and CM-32L which I use for classic DOS gaming. Tried other MIDI controllers, but found out later the playback was desyncing at times. This controller fixed that. You may need a Female-Female MIDI coupler or two, but otherwise, this is a great product for PC/Mac - MIDI.

Note: I am using this on Windows 10, but the packaging only supports through Windows 8.1, so be forewarned.

It's a good product, but roland allows their hardware to laps regarding drivers for Mac and windows.

Good unit, but my warning with products like this especially for Mac users is that (not entirely roland's fault) is that as OSX keeps updating.. driver issues come up and eventually i'm certain (as happend with the erderol um-1) they will make a new product and stop supporting drivers.. the UM-One (yes a different product) was a great unit till roland just stopped making new drivers for it making perfectly good units obsolete..

I bought it because I thought my existing one was defective, but it turned out it was something to do with an old FW400 audio interface that hindered it.. these units are also problematic with some USB Hubs.. my UM-1 Mk2 worked with one USB hub but not the other AFTER i realized the other FW drivers / hardware were effecting it..

So yea that's why i say it's ok. It IS good in terms of being full featured.. full sysex support for advanced MIDI stuff.. some cheaper ones out there, actually omit sysex support so they only transmit basic midi.. which is ok for most purposes, but advanced users will find this bad with things like patch editors and such.

I used this to hook up my Roland TD-20X to my Mac Mini in order to use Superiordrummer samples.

Works great. Had some latency issues at first, but found they were due to some settings on my TD-20X, (made some changes to lessen some un-needed traffic on the midi highway, optimized my Mac, and put all of my sample sounds on an external drive). I have not measured the latency with this set up but it is barely noticeable. I found recommendations for this interface from fellow VST drummers. Only thing I would change is to have the cord just a bit longer, otherwise it works very well.Read full review...

Perfect solution

This Midi to USB interface is fantastic. I bought a low end cable and had all kinds of issues - keys sticking/staying on - very frustrating. After a lot of troubleshooting I decided to get a somewhat expensive cable (this one), hoping my USB port, Midi Ports, computer and software were ok. They were and this cable made the difference. Being new to Midi and worrying about my configurations, this was a huge relief. I have a good 7K invested in my studio setup, and to think it came down to a cable- believe me, it's worth buying the good stuff and not having to look back.Read full review...

simple midi interface, win 7, 8

For 1 midi device it works ok. Like a polyphonic multitamberal device to a computer with simple daw. Larger system might need lots more i/o, a good starter midi connect. Has no audio i/o incase you wonder.Read full review...

EXCELLENT USB midi interface

I picked this up to use with a thin client that I made into a midi sound module emulator, primarily for retro DOS gaming since MT-32 etc units are getting hard to find and expensive. This Roland unit is said to support all the special modes that are required to emulate the old hardware.

In any case, windows 10 loaded the drivers for it automatically and it just worked perfectly right off the bat. To me, it was absolutely worth a couple extra dollars to get a Roland unit.

More than I needed.

I was able to get connected without any headache(s) and that was great so is the actual interface, however I now realize that a single midi to usb would work fine for my situation (all I needed was to connect midi out to the pc my midi device "Roland GR-20" already uses the guitar midi pickup cable as the midi in, nice interface though.Read full review...

Really good product and quickest ship out I've experienced - in less than 24 hours!

It works. The driver installation is a breeze. The LED indicators help in the diagnostics.

Midi in-out to USB connector

It works straight out of the box. Win 10 Pro auto installed the latest driver. This is how it should be.
