19750 Rice Cooker
I know that I ordered this but didn't realise that it was so big so takes up a lot of space in my kitchen. I wanted a very small one and was won over by the price and not the object. I have used it 2x now and must say the second time was more successful as used more water than instructed as stuck to the book first time and came out dry and hard. It also has quite a large dent on the side which I didn't expect although I know it has been recycled. It's not easy to write a review having only used it a few times. While it seems to work well, you need to be willing to experiment with different types of rice. Also the rice at the bottom of the pan goes in to a crud sometimes. So you need to pop some extra in to mitigate this. Beautiful, simple and efficient rice cooker
Hi, I've been using rice cookers all my life and this one by Russell Hobbs really stands out from the rest, simply because most other rice cookers do not have an on or off switch.
On this Russell Hobbs rice cooker, there is a little on/off switch that is just behind its left side when looking directly at it.
I know to most, this won't make a difference, but I am always so annoyed that to switch off my rice cooker, I would have to constantly pull the plug out from the wall socket or the electrical gangway. It is worse on the electrical multiple extension lead gangway because most of the time, it is not affixed to anything solid, meaning you must use two hands and if you are lucky enough to have a switch on the extension lead then switching off the gangway will mean switching off all the other electrical devices that are connected also, which is not an option.
The fact that you have a dedicated on/off switch on this rice cooker allows you to with one hand, very elegantly switch off the rice cooker when you are done.
The steamer function in this also works a treat and I have now used this rice cooker to make a variety of grains, such as basmati rice, sushi rice, bulgar wheat and even quinoa. All coming out perfectly!
I have also steam vegetables such as broccoli, carrots etc... and again, coming out perfectly.
May I recommend however, not to steam fish like salmon at the same time as cooking rice as the fat of the salmon will drip into the rice below while cooking making not the most pleasant of tasting accompaniment.
