SEGA Game Gear Handheld System - Black

Bought to fix and so far so good.

I bought a this knowing that it was broken as a repair and upgrade project. Having never owned a Game Gear, I needed the console, cartridges, and a power supply. I replaced the capacitors and fixed the battery contacts and now the system plays games with sound but no video. The project is going great -- just waiting on a new modern LCD kit and the system will be better than new.Read full review

For those that have never purchased a Sega Game Gear my suggestion is to purchase this product. I have bought Game Gears in the past and due to the capacitors break down. Who go through the hassle. I felt the product was really solid and I am happy with the purchase. Now I have it on my bookshelf while I play my modded one with the McWill screen.

Nostalgia gaming

I loved my Game gear as a kid. I really appreciate being able to play my old games again. Unfortunately 30 year old electronic games don't work like new so I will be restomodding it. Keep this in mind if you plan on buying unrestored electronics.Read full review

Best option to maintain stock

The best option if you want a Game gear to play games.

The image quality is low and still far from a modern screen, but much better than the original models and with much less ghosting.

Appears to be a little cheaper than the original ones, but that is not a problem when actually playing games.

Original capacitors still working.

Complete refurbishment with great results.

I bought this as a project to try and fix to play. After replacing all the capacitors, the screen and sound still did not work. I ended up replacing the screen and the speaker, as well. Pretty much replaced everything, but the mother board and outside shell. It now works like new and I love playing it. Read full review

As a modder on YouTube (xmod’s Gaming). Find a working game gear is Tough! Also it may take 2 or 3 game gear’s to fix right with changing the caps your self. Do buy a working one sometimes the caps leaking already damaged the board. So get one the someone else already did the job. Save your self form buying a a lot of game gears.Read full review

Sega game gear is a classic

The sega game gear is a very under appreciated system, while it doesn’t have the library of games that the gameboy has it does have quite a few great games that will keep you entertained for hours on end. And with the mc will screen and capacitors replaced the system is flawless just buy some good rechargeable batteries and your set.
