Cheap way to replace my faulty old PVR
My old PVR died and the repairer wanted around $300 to fix. This unit works well, easy to install and operate using an old 1TB drive. I have not bothered to read the manual.

New model with outdated software.
Strong``s new model set top box is a big step back from it predecessor, the software is like the very early models and although Strong send me a software upgrade it did not help much. It is awkward to play files not recorded by the machine. It does not ``remember`` where you left of after stopping a movie you are watching and will just start at the beginning again. The quality of the recordings is excellent which is the only good thing I can say about this new model. The previous model the Strong 5432 has much more sophisticated software than this latest model.Read full review

Poor text colour and font size
Very compact but very disappointed in the way the text is displayed. When you are sitting 3 metres away the font is too small and some of the writing is in white which is very hard to pick up especially when you show the text on a white background. The arrows are in yellow - again very hard to distinguish on a white background. For pensioners with failing eyesight this text needs to be improved. It may look good when you are sitting on top of the screen but further back it cannot be seen.Read full review

Thought this unit actually recorded to an internal drive didn't want one that recorded to USB.
My fault I guess didn't read description thoroughly and comprehend that this unit didn't have an internal hard disc to record on. It is a quality unit for its purpose and is value for money if this is type of unit you're looking for Read full review
