Reliable large external Startup SSD Drive for iMac.

This one-off custom SSD uses Thunderbolt 2, a rarity these days. I have Thunderbolt 2 on my late-2012 iMac, so I don't have to use a USB port. This drive also uses USB-B-Micro, the double-barrel connector that's become a standard in external drives. The case encloses a large 1TB Samsung SSD. It's 50 percent slower in data transfer than my reference external SSDs, a common Samsung SSD problem, but 10 times faster than the pokey 5400 RPM internal iMac drive, so I this is my start-up drive. I am very happy with my custom external SSD.Read full review...

Good Value

I ordered this card for a particular application that fell through about the time I received the Card. Arrived in just a few days, sooner than expected. I let the package sit unopened for a few days as I thought I would have to send it back unopened.
I have an old steel box USB 2.0 External Raid setup with 5 1/4 inch drives. It occurred to me I could upgrade to an ssd Usb 3.0 setup, but I would be mixing this mSata Card with regular 2.5 inch ssd drives. Turns out to be not a problem at all. Did some research and it seems some vendors are already using mSata for light external RAID applications. I purchased a Syba Sata II PCIe Raid adapter that operates independently of the MoBo, configured with onboard dip switches to RAID 5. So, what began as problematic turned into a bonus; an acceptable solution, a good value and overall time saver.
