For durable, High Heat environment needs, this HD is a suitable candidate!

My reason for purchasing this drive will be much different than that of the average user. So I hesitate in writing a "performance" based report, but rather a thought provoking one in regards to other people who may use the device in the same way I did. I am a copier dealer, and this Hard Drive matched the specifications required for me to use it as a replacement for the Hard Drive in a client's copier. One must remember that it is very hard to find a hard drive in the 40MB/80MB category, and as time moves forward, it will become even more tasking to do so.

Overall this drive was picked by the manufacturer of the copier for its ability to perform well in high use, high heat environment, and I can tell you from the history of copier machines I service in the industry, this Hard Drive performs very well. So if you have an application requiring a good work horse in a potentially higher heated environment, these are good durable drives and should be considered.Read full review...

Good drive, but it's not ATA-133

I purchased this drive for $30 to upgrade an older system before I sold it. I mostly purchased it for the price, as I didn't want to put too much money into a system I was getting rid of, and this was the cheapest drive with enough space and performance for what I needed. (I was looking for 7200 RPM and ATA-133, and the best price for something 20GB or larger) However, it is a good thing I checked the specs on the manufacturer's website before bidding, because it turns out that while this drive is ATA-133 compatible, which means it will work on a system with an ATA-133 capable interface, the drive itself only supports up to ATA-100 data transfer. However, as the system I was using it in only supports up to ATA-100 anyhow, I decided to purchase it even though the description of the device was inaccurate. The drive seems to perform well, hdparm reported an average of 50 MB/s data transfer rate on the drive, which is five times the speed of the drive it is replacing in the same system. This drive is so quiet I thought it was INOP! Awesome drive - I should have bought 4 of them!

This drive is so quiet I thought I'd not connected the +5 power to it yet - so I picked it up & held it to my ear and could hear it was running A-OK!!
