holy cow this is nice
at first when i got this i was confused on how to get it all working. it took a couple days of tinkering around installing, reinstalling, tweeking, coffee, a few swear words and boom i'm driving down the back stretch at indy doing 240 mph. it looks amazing and you dont need sensors. the resolution is superior to other VR sets. the built in AKG headphones work very well for gaming and transmit 360 degree sound as you turn your head in VR. its comfortable enough to wear for over an hour at a time and the cord is long enough to put your pc off to the side ( but it could use another couple feet of length ) Its compatible with most vive and oculus games and steam. the helmet has adjustments for eye correction, main volume control and lets in very little ambient light.Read full review

Great HMD, Terrible Controller Inspection
TLDR; My right controller likes to shut itself off despite the fact I put new and fresh batteries in it. The controller is just defective and I want the whole purchase refunded due to already spending extra money on this trying to get it to work.
I've seen one other review of this purchase, I am quite frankely, upset with my purchase a little bit. I've had the HMD since September of 2019. I've spent, MONTHS, and an additional $100 trying to get the right motion controller to work properly. The retailer specifically advertises the product as "Manufacturer Refurbished: Grade A, Like New." But, if the right controller doesn't function properly, then someone isn't doing their job. I shouldn't be super upset aobut it as it is just the right controller. If you read this, and you see this review, don't waste your money on a refurbished odyssey. Just go and buy a brand new odyssey+ Trust me, it'll save you lots of time and extra money.Read full review

Perfect. Arrived in excellent quality with zero issues.
Perfecto. These are a good way to save some money. The only real differences to this and the Vive Cosmos is the tracking is better on the COSMOS because it uses tracking sensors rather than just stereoscopic cameras and that it has a wireless version. The Samsung Odyssey+ is tethered via cable instead of wireless technology. Other than that, Samsung Odyssey+ hits the same resolution 2880x1600 (1440x1600 per eye), Field of View (FOV) 110°, and refresh rate as the Vive series of VR HMD (90hz). I highly recommend the Samsung. The flip-up display on other VR HMD seem to be problematic many times.Read full review

Great VR for the money.
I already owned an Oculus Rift but the lines in the picture were very annoying. I read that the Odyssey Plus corrected this problem so I figured I would give it a try. The picture is much more clear with no lines but not as sharp. Performance is pretty much identical to the rift. The Odyssey Plus has a volume control feature on the headset which the rift does not have. The controllers are larger and a little heavier but work just as well. The only drawback with the Odyssey is that you are forced to use it with Steam because Samsungs VR store and Windows VR store don't even come close to the content in the Oculus store.Read full review

Not ready for prime time.
Samsung Odyssey is state of the art for stereoscopic headsets today (May 2018), but still pretty crude.
While it is considered the best among headsets currently available, expect it to be obsolete in 2 years.
It has adjustment for pupillary distance but not diopter, and both are wanted for good stereo vision.
The headset is uncomfortable, heavy, and its USB+HDMI cable for audio and video is cumbersome.
I find the hand controls so clumsy as to be nearly useless, but are reportedly less uncomfortable
than those bundled with other Windows Mixed Reality (WMR) headsets.
Software betrays gaming heritage, meaning deliberately making operation unobvious.
Relatively little software is plug-and-play; most desirable software requires SteamVR,
which requires yet other software and more or less successfully mentally translating instructions designed for other hardware (Vive and Oculus Rift) to WMR controls.
Software requires a recent PC costing ~ $1500. Visual space between pixels (AKA "screen door effect") is hard to ignore, but again considered the best currently available in consumer grade headsets.Read full review

Great purchase for the inquisitive mind
The box arrived with no damage, and was well-taped. I opened said box and found a few "shipping envelopes" instead of normal packing, which was an interesting twist. The set came with a powerful cigarette smell that I wiped away with a damp cloth.
As to the hardware itself though, barring a few technical issues with Steam VR I still need to work out, I could not be happier with the purchase so far. The set has been quite well cared for, and works nearly perfectly in Windows Mixed Reality (rarely, a controller will drift, or the boundaries will shift slowly, but that's no fault of the seller and I'm happy to live with it).
A family member happened to come by as I finished setting up the Mixed reality set up and she had a lot of fun as she tried it (even though she had absolutely no idea what she was doing lol). I think this VR set will be a good way to connect with my family in this digital age. It beats a phone and everyone gets to share in a single digital realm (as opposed to one watching cooking videos, another watching a Lets Player and so on). On top of that, it's a fantastic way to show them my digital creations the way I see them. A 2D image is one thing, but seeing your digital creations in a "real" space you can physically interact with is another thing entirely, for instance. There may be a lot of opportunities for family interaction in the future.
So I am quite happy with the purchase. This Samsung HMD Odyssey is living up to its reviews and that's exactly what I wanted it for :DRead full review

Great product but better are coming if you can wait.
The Samsung Odyssey has one of the best screens available currently but in my opinion it shares the same weakness as ALL consumer VR headsets. Fresnel Lenses. I hate them but currently every PC based VR headset uses them. LG is rumored to be making a headset with refractive lenses and Lighthouse tracking like the HTC Vive. I'd recommend waiting for that if you're sensitive to things like god rays.Read full review

Great value
The image quality, controls and software availability are great. The only caveat I have is that I would recommend buying a third party head strap that goes over the top of the head for it. Without one, it's uncomfortable to wear over long periods of time,Read full review
A great value
Keep your expectations in check for the tracking— it can only see roughly as much as you can. However, the OLED colors, integrated headphones, controllers and comfort are all huge upgrades over all the other first-gen WMR headsets.
And in case you’re wondering, yes— you will occasionally miss blocks in Beat Saber due to tracking errors— but as long as you’re not trying to literally go pro or something it is totally sufficient and well worth the price.Read full review

Headset itself is fine, wrong item name and bad left controller
I’m just gonna start this off by saying I very much enjoy this product and it has been a lot of fun so far.
It has worked (mostly) well so far.
However I cannot recommend this product. First of all, the left controller will often just stop working. This can obviously be very obnoxious. On a more minor note, the batteries were nearly dead when this arrived, and the headset did not appear to be cleaned well (dusty headset and some kinda sticky gunk on the hdmi and usb) which worried me upon opening the box it arrived in.
And now for my biggest concern: under ‘item specifics’ the model is labeled as ‘Samsung odyssey+ (I have a screenshot of this in case it is changed) This item is the Original odyssey, not the odyssey+. Since both versions look nearly identical, I thought this was the newer version. I know I’m partly to blame because I could have just searched the product ID, but I really don’t appreciate that’s the model name was wrong.
