Great 4k Player
This is great product. It plays all kind of disks from anything from CD to 4k Blu-Ray. The Blu-ray or DVD movies comes arrive when you watch on 4K TV. It also have some apps like Netflix and other that you can stream. It's easy to use and user friendly. I recommend. I got it under $200, its definitely a companion for any 4k tv. this is a very good dvd player, but i hear the future of this product is not good because people are finding it more convenient to stream a video rather than store the dvd, personally i don't trust it enough that they will stay in business, or don't lose my movie i would rather have the hard copy,saying that ; the manufactures are hesitant to invest in the r&d which would bring the price down, with competition, so its hard to say how its going to go, but even with a blu ray it makes the picture much betterRead full review...

Nice design with great features
Although the remote is difficult to use, I don't mind because I use a Logitech Harmony one. The machine itself, is designed very nicely. The picture is flawless. A good price and a nice unit
I already have a number of Samsung DVD players and I have never had a problem with any of them. The K8500 is very similar to my other units. The only minor problem is the size of the remote, it is too small and if you have medium fingers like me it will take a little getting used to. It has a nice sharp picture. I currently do not have a 4K or OLED TV although my Samsung TV is not that old and the player definitely steps up the picture. I got a good price from this seller. Beautiful picture quality, easy to use
We decided to upgrade our Blu-Ray player to 4K when we got a new 4K TV. Happy we did as the picture and sound quality from this player are amazing. Didn't expect to see the quality of some older DVDs improve, but were pleasantly surprised to see clearer picture and better color. Remote simple to use. Set up very simple. Settings are tricky. I had to study.
And the 8500 player from Samsung lacks the Dolby Vision feature for more standardized dynamic contrast.
I found it necessary to explicitly turn on the 4:4:4 color setting under the setup menu. And the picture style under the tool button must be set to standard. The movie setting degrades the picture color and sharpness.
In all, I did not expect complications like this from this level of product, but I should have expected the need to study.Read full review...

No bluetooth ability but otherwise great.
Something is fishy with this product. The Samsung website says this model (UBD-K8500) has bluetooth; however, it does not. When I called into Samsung for help to connect my bluetooth keyboard, they told me it doesn't have bluetooth. If you expect to get bluetooth to connect a wireless keyboard, don't buy this one. With that being said, keyboards do work if they are wired up to the USB port or with a wireless USB hub like the Unify plug from Logitech. One other thing with the keyboard is that certain apps don't function with the keyboard. It's an app limitation as others work just fine with the keyboard to include the internet browser.
Besides that, the model is great. The internet browser is nice, but I'm finding that I really don't use that as much as I thought I would. I mainly use it for Netflix. Netflix video playback is fast and I've had no problems with it. The quality of the DVD/blueray playback is good too. So far no complaints. Others have said that the remote it small. It's smaller than a normal remote but I have had no problems with that.Read full review...

Good DVD Player
Needed an upgraded player for the new TV I bought. First movie I played was a movie with music. It played well and the picture quality was great. I've read that the remote can be a little tricky but for me it wasn't.
