I've been using one for years
I just upgraded my older ScanGuage, and I'm very happy with it and the company. For my Honda Insight Generation 1 (2000 to 2006), it helps me stay in "lean burn" mode by displaying the throttle position sensor. That allows over 80mpg trips and around 70mpg averages. Geeking out more: a TPS value below 18 for about a second triggers lean burn, then slow acceleration (but keeping the TPS below 32) keeps it in lean burn. The mixture is enriched for 8 seconds every couple minutes to keep the exhaust pipe from building up ash deposits.

What a great machine!
I used it once on a 100 mile round trip in my 1997 Ford Class C motorhome. I had no check engine light, but the scan function told me that my already suspected miss under load was #1 and #6 cylinders, and probably a plug or plug coil wire. The temperature and instant MPG gauge cleared up for me the cooling fan running and the conditions that really impacted MPG. It's a great instrument to travel with. Tells me what I wanted to know!
I had an older Scangage years ago. Very aesthetically archaic compared to the new ones. I needed to know my transmission temperature because of burned fluid so early in it's life. I learned that I needed to get it out of the radiator coolant situation as it was getting way hotter than the recommended 165 degrees. Mine was getting to as high as 233 degrees when high ambient temps and I wasn't towing anything. From here I purchased an external cooler and all has been well. If I can just find the code to tell me the temperature in degrees Fahrenheit instead if Centigrade....but I will take Centigrade for sure. I monitor radiator coolant, transmission temperature, ambient temperature, and mpg. Really nice being able to monitor these parameters.Read full review

ScanGuage always a superior product
ScanGuage2 has always been a high quality product. This is my second one, I use two of them in tandem to monitor 8 critical functions. This helps me to maintain gas mileage in the 40mpg area in a 18 year old car. Also alerts me to malfunctions and allows me correct them before they become a catastrophe.
I considered one of the cheap OBD2 wifi units but after reading the poor reviews I bought this second ScanGuage2. Way better choice.Read full review
