According to the official website http://knowledge.seagate.com/articles/en_US/FAQ/204763en/?q=serial+number&language=en_US&fs=Search&pn=1#notebook, these HDD have been built before 2010, and that they are not new. The serial number and the device name of the product did not match. The serial numbers of the model HDD momentus 5400.2 FAMILY https://apps1.seagate.com/downloads/request.html. However, in my opinion, is the best solution to replace the old HDD laptop. Amongst the new ATA HDD for notebooks were only WD, their reliability is extremely low.Read full review...

Avoid this seller

The product was advertised as NEW but when installed by an "expert" technician, I was told that the numbers from the chipset and the serial number of the product DID NOT MATCH. This indicates that the hard drive was actually refurbished and not NEW as advertised.Read full review...
