Excellent Everyday Watch

This watch is lightweight, comfortable to wear, well made, and easy to read. The lume is bright, and the time keeping is accurate. At just under $100, this is a great value for a field watch with military style. The stock strap is comfy, but can be easily changed out for another if desired. I also like the clear case-back. It is cool to see the self-winding mechanism move. My only word of caution is that this model is water resistant, but not waterproof. It will repel everyday things like rain, sweat, etc. However it cannot be submerged underwater. I have many Seikos and this is a great reminder why I like them so much. Highly recommendable, and would make a great gift.Read full review...

Seiko SNK805

This is a great looking watch that fits in well in a utilitarian respect as well as moderate dress. The look is not over the top, and the dial is a traditional size for a man (around 37mm roughly). The band is comfortable and even though it is a tough nylon like material, it does not gouge your skin or anything like that.
I've always been a fan of Seiko watches just for their reliability and the option for more muted styles like this even when ridiculous styles are what's popular (52mm dials, what the heck?). This watch however has managed to bring about a few less than desirable traits, a first from a Seiko for me, to which I feel the need to drop a star. They are not major at all, but worthy of note.
First... It's a noisy watch. Not in operation, but the pendulum for the automatic winding is very loud. Just driving a car with your wrist resting on the top of the steering wheel it rattles enough people in the back seat can hear it. While you could say that's a character trait of a self winding watch, I have had others that are dead silent, including even cheap Chinese watches. So it isn't like it's impossible, this watch just is loud.
Second, the dial scratches easily. I've always worn watches while at work and even in harsh treatment I've never had any problems with the dials scratching except under really unfair conditions, and even then it was minor scratching. This watch got a big gouge in the dial the first day I wore it, I don't even know how. Whatever it was, I didn't even notice it happen. For something touted as being scratch resistant, it's terrible. It hasn't scratched since, but the damage is done anyway.
Lastly, the night glow. Sucks. Previously every Seiko have had has glowed for hours on end, longer than I would stay awake anyway. This watch uses some new(er) mode of glow that doesn't use irradiated material apparently. According to Seiko this is newer safer and better glow than the older way. It's not better, the others I can't speak to. It goes for maybe 5-10 minutes strongly, then incredibly dimly for maybe an hour at best. A part of the issue I think is that it starts glowing in broad daylight... It reacts too soon. At 4-5pm sometimes I'll look and even though it's bright outside (or indoors whatever), the arms and hour indicators are bright as can be, and totally unnecessary. It starts dimming very quickly.By the time it's dark, it's almost done glowing.

I still like the watch and won't stop wearing it over these issues, but they were definitely surprises for a long time Seiko customer and will be taken into account on future purchases.

Edit: another week in and the dial is scratched and nicked like nobodies business. Truly disappointing how terrible the scratch resistance is compared to Seikos in the past.

Minutes fast per day.

After 1 month of wear the watch has become over 15min fast per day. At first I thought it was a mistake on my part, maybe the crown was pulled somehow during wear. I adjusted the time and within a few hours I realized my time was ahead by minutes. The seconds hand is ticking at a much higher rate than it should. I could probably take it to a local shop to get adjusted but since the watch was taken out of its box literally 34 days ago so I feel this shouldn't be the case. Its unfortunate. I like the watch. Watch is good, band is sketch.

The only flaw I could mention about this watch is that the band is stiff, and the metal retainers are not securely mounted which make the watch a little cumbersome to put on. Watch itself seems to keep good time over the short time I have owned it. Delivery was very prompt.Read full review...

very good autowinder at decent price

this watch is actually comparable to a vintage autowinder rolex I used to own. It weighs less also. the see through back allows me to see the inner workings without removing the case. I prefer the autowinder since batteries can end up discharged when you need them. the hands and number indicators glow very bright. I was surprised how brightly they appeared in the dark. One reason I bought it was because it is a Seiko. Great brand at a decent price.Read full review...

Good weekend watch

this a nice weekend watch. It's mechanical and automatic, works perfectly and at reasonable price point. Smaller size that most casual watches comfortable on a smaller wrist. The case is matte and a bit dull. Read full review...

Very Nice Dial and Hands, easy to see.

The reason I rated the watch a 4 is because of the Automatic feature. This is my first Automatic and I didn't realize it will run down and stop at night when you are not wearing it.

Great Seiko daily wear

Great automatic watch! Not too expensive that I am afraid of messing it up, so love it as a daily wear. Holds time very well right from the box. Just the right size for my wrist and doesn't catch things as I walk by. The strap is a little stiff at first, but is breaking in and very comfortable. Highly recommend as an every day wear or entry into automatic winders. Can't go wrong with the 7S26 Seiko movement. Get one!Read full review...

I LOVE THIS WATCH!

Seiko 5 automatic, smaller dial, nice hands with good lume, very accurate, has a decent power reserve so can leave it off at night. Really like the band it came with comfortable and well matched. GREAT price for an automatic with day/date. Easy to set day/date. Great styling! Seiko quality.Read full review...

Love the smaller dial and green trim.

Nice sporty watch with smaller dial that fits my wrist and does not get in the way. I especially like the gree,n face and wrist band. It looks vey outdoorish, however the wovenband is difficult.to fasten and I worry that with time, it will show signs of stress required due to the bending required when inserting it in the loops. Also, setting the day is a bit tricky. All this said, I would buy it again in a second (no pun). Smalle.r dials with a rugged look are hard to find.Read full review...
