Takes you away from today wonderfully

I first saw this movie on PBS station and was stunned by its beauty and the script. I HAD to have it for myself! I could hardly wait for it to come and I have watched it 5 times already (I RARELY watch a movie more than twice) and even watched it again on t.v. before my copy arrived. I just can't get enough of this beauty of a movie. The scenery! The period homes it was shot in! Emma Thompson and Kate Winslet can hardly be said enough about. SUPERB!! A glorious movie. Great insight into the restrictions of a woman living as a single being in those days. This movie never gets old and I enjoy it just as much each time I see it. BRAVO!!!Read full review...

A Wonderful Film~

This movie is wonderful! The only thing that bugged me was Hugh Grant as Edward Ferrars. He stuck out like a sore thumb and every time he entered a room you got the impression of some timid school boy about to be punished. Emma Thompson & Kate Winslet were perfect as sisters Elinor & Marianne Dashwood. I liked that in the movie they seemed a little older than they are in the book. Alan Rickman was really good as Col. Brandon and I loved the part where he watched Marianne sing and play the piano. A Great movie to see if you enjoy period films or anything from the genius of Jane Austen.Read full review...

Sense and Sensibility

Another one in my Jane Austin collection. How ever the best production to date. the photography is outstanding and some of the scenes remind me of the old masters. About a family who is greatly reduced in rank in the 1700's. The eldest male inherits all with the stipulation (from his fathers death bed) that he "Help them". But He is married to a selfish woman who convinces him otherwise. How they cope with the situation and find love and happiness. And at some point getting "Even" with the sister-in-law by suceeding in spite of her.Read full review...
